Sorry in advance if this is well-known...

... but how can I figure out in a given race what kind of tires the competition (AI) cars are driving? I see many comments about trying to match these and I agree from a challenge perspective, but how I can I tell?

BTW... I know that sometimes in the "Event information" it will say something like "most cars are using racing hard tires, for example, but this is inconsistent so I'm trying to find out if there's a specific place to look.
 
If you mean in GT Life mode, enter the race you are curious about, start it and quit after about 30 seconds or so. Then look at the replay. That will tell you what tires everyone has.
 
Doesnt it tell you in the info. section? Or is that just the seasonals?

Just seasonals. I suppose B-spec does have tire restrictions, assuming the opponents always follow them. And in Arcade they seem to always match your tires.

For everything else you need a replay. Even 5 seconds is enough to pause it and check one of the bots. 99.9% of the time they all run the same tires. Remote Races are the only time I'm sure I've seen them vary, and those are probably OEM tires.

As like everyone else said, check the replay. And 9/10 every driver is using the same tires.

As far as I know, the AI in A-spec races use the same tyres as they use in the equivalent B-spec races, so you can check the restriction of the B-spec race to figure out the tyre choice in A-spec.
