So I have been told from a few people now, that tires should be the same on all four corners and at the same point have been told that the tires should have more grip on the front so that you can stear in a drift. I know alot of you drift with SIM tires but I can't so... don't break my balls, I was a racer in the up intill about a month ago, now I like to play with a 1800cc nissan. I have I think 450-500 horse in it, I can drift good a few times but I still havn't found my perfect setup and my talent needs some inprovement. But in your eyes are tires the most important thing to have set up correct? And why do people use SIM tires for exipition drifting.... I seem not to be able brake hard enough with the sims to drift.

Personally, I use the same tires on all four wheels. Using weaker tires on the rear is sort of 'cheating' if you ask me. The car will handle really sloppy and it will be really apparent when watching the replay that the driver lacks in skill. Anyway, as for sims, they have basically almost no traction so you do have to brake really early. I mean rediculously early. I prefer sports tires myself because they have stronger sidewalls which lets you throw the car around a little more aggressively. You can drift with any tire though.

I too use the same tires on all wheels... If you use different tires rear and back you are allowing yourself to circumvent suspension tuning, in order to achieve oversteer... All tires being equal gives the car a more balanced feel... i would suggest that if you dislike sims you try slicks... you should have no problem initiating drift in sims... keeping it is another ?

I've been using sims a lot lately and I'd definitely say that if you're using sims..make sure you use them on the front and the back or the car will handle like crap. You said your car has 450-500 hp so I'd recommend slicks or normal tires depending on your suspension settings.

I have 505 in my 1800cc so I am using sport tires, and I still have a little bit of a problem about makeing the LONG drifts work but I like the tires still have to brake early.

with a car with around 500 horses i use slicks (some people are actually good enough to use sims with this much horse power though). The only reason i use sims is that almost all (around 20+ ) cars i have setup for drifting i try to keep the hp around 300-400.

and yeah it just doesn't feel good drifting with different tires on the front and back (i think the only time the good drifters of GT3 actually do this is if for some reason they try to drift with a FF car)

(oh yeah i am a NY blackout 2003 surviver)<---- had to say that :D

how many 1800cc s13s do you know with 500hp? lol, keep it realistic man, thats what simulation means. if you want to drift big turns bring your hp down to earth and slap on simulation tires(all 4 corners...like a normal car) setup isn't important either. most cars can drift stock...so if you are still having troubles, its your skills that are lacking, not the car. drift requires a lot of practice.
