lets hear your opinions!!!

Do you take it easy on a fresh set of tires and wear them in until they are at the proper temp?

Do you run hard right out of the gate and pit twice as often?

The reason I ask this is some of the people at the I-link tourneys take their time for the tires to come up to temp and lay down some consistent times. Others run like the devil and wear a set out twice as fast. I guess its the age old argument of the rabbit versus the turtle.

imo i think sims are the best... if you learn how to drift with a really slippery car, EVERY car with Acm and Tcs on is really good handling since drift cars are probably the worst handling cars.. i use Super soft for grip racing because even if the tread wears out it still good if u know how to drift well cause its still grippier than a drift car

say your drifting and sliding around , are you as fast as the guy with fresher tires. Would you try this if a say a 500.00 purse is on the line.

I come out of the pits and drive hard like I normally would, I try to not let the temp/wear of the tires affect the way I drive, I try to be as consistant as possible

In i-link mode you have no choice of tires, so it's T5s all round. I run as hard as I can on cold or worn tires because I don't want to give any time away to my rivals. But you have to remember that excess sliding will cost you time, so there's no point going mad.

Also the more and heavier steering inputs you make, the more your tires will wear. If you have a smooth, but quick driving style this will prove to be an advantage in i-link races.

I've never been any good at conserving tyres so I guess I just run hard straight out of the box.....think a comparo is in order to find out about extending tyre life ;) suggestions for car and track.....think it should be run on T5's

It depends on the car, the track, the competition, etc. I try to run consistent times. I often get a little over zealous and run too hard but I sense it and lay-off a little.

I don't see how anyone can say how many laps they go between pits without also saying the tires, car, and track.

Further to my earlier answer, in I-link races, never change tires on a C or B class car. You'll never pull the time back that you lose in the pits.

With an S class, always pit when you're tires go red (particularly the rears). They lose buckets of time driving around on worn-out tires.

A class is difficult to call. It will cost you a similar amount to change as you can gain with new rubber.

Well, the first lap after pitting I take a little time to let them warm up. After that I go ahead and push the limits. Using this I can normally get 9 - 12 laps out of T3s and 15 - 20 laps out of T2 depending on how hard I pus hthe car. I push the enevelope sometimes with T4s and get around 7-9 laps out of them. I have not tried anything higher then those tires in an enduro though.

In a recent OLR run over at GTBN, there was a reward for choice of tires. T8's gave such a reward, that any loss of time due to pitting was negated easily.

The OLR venue was a full blown Clasonic skyline in the Tokyo enduro. He pitted every third lap.

I tend to stick with t3, 4 or 5 tires in any sim race. Drive cmooth and even and there should only be a slight difference in lap times.

I'll quote Boombexus "tire squeal = loosing time" If you listen to the tires you'll not only get fast lap times, but you'll also preserve tire life.

Ruf RGT on T2's in the PD cup can go the full twenty laps witout pitting at Trial Mtn.

In GT3, I think this is the issue. But in real life, your tires have their best grip when they have a very small ammount of slip.

eh?
they are slipping so therefore they have more grip?

anyhow, i start hard then ease off to conserve tires.

Actually, he is correct. It says in the manual with the game, and several of the faqs that i have read on this board says that tires produce the best grip when they are right on the edge- a little bit of slippage occur when on the edge.

no, it is not. but the escudo and the toyota gt one and the f1s are the game's best cars. The maunual that i'm talking about is the one that came in the GAME.

*sigh*

i know. heh, i was joking too. But the escudo is the ultimate car, except on tarmac. that understeers sucks, i'm gona start working on it to fix that...hopefully 2morrow.

I try my best to run down my rear tires before my front tires in a Rear wheel drive car so that even if my rear tires go red, I can still drive well because thats the way I like handling drift cars.
