Hello All,

With all the developers screaming redefining the racing genre I went through my collection of good old PsOne games and found a real piece of brilliance.

I was actually quite stunned to see so many cars, decent AI, Weather, Mandatory Pitstops with interactive tirechange, good sounds and very nice handling.

As I popped in the disc I was actually a bit hooked for the rest of the evening.

Just look at what this game did in the first generation of Playstation Consoles. It does more than many racers do today!

It's probably very cheap to buy and well worth the investment, since it can be played on the ps3. Don't except G25 support though :dunce:

I had pretty much all of the TOCA series. They are absolutely fantastic games! 👍
 
agreed 👍 to this day, toca wtc is one of the best driving games i've played

and some of the nutty bonuses are a laugh too. slot cars, low gravity, exploding kerbs! :D
 
Yup, THIS game, besides GT:sly:, gave me the fun OF RACING, absolutely STUNNING GAME: 12,16? car grid, damage model, cockpit view, great AI, good sound, good graphics, pit stops, night racing, rain racing, realistic rollover, where you would almost total your car, it had EVERYTHING, on a machine with 4 MB! main-memorie, yep.
Seriuosly, I played this game for sooooooo many hours, it's simply brilliant.

That's the short but cool intro, and the rollover you see at 0:47, that's exactely the spot where I had my first rollover, very interesting, I know lol, but back than, it was so stunning for me.:eek:

It's really impressive what they managed to do with such a limited machine. And as said Alexp, it has everything everyone wants in the GT Series, well except for the variable weather and track conditions.

to bad codies dropped this. Really hope for a beautiful touringcar game again, although superstars v8 next did a hell of a job.

Really hope that codies makes a BTCC game from the history of BTCC with all cars, tracks, drivers etc. That disc would probably never leave the PS3 again 👍
 
It's strange this thread appearing. Only a few days ago I was playing TOCA 2 for PSone. I'd been playing SSV8;NC and and it inspired me to take a nostalgic trip back to my youth. I remember when the TOCA series first came out it was great (I loved racing at Croft and Oulton Park). It's just a pity Codies lost their focus on producing quality racing games and bought us the disappointing Grid/ Race Driver series (the same thing has happened with the Colin McRae series!). I was hoping for so much from those games after playing the original TOCA games. For me, the last decent version was WTCC on the PS2.

Codies, if you're listening, make a proper TOCA game. As Doblo said above, SSV8;NC was a good effort and is the closest I've seen on a next gen console at bringing the excitement that the originals delivered.👍
 
Or if Simbin bring Race 07/Race On or similar to the PS3 I'm sure many people would be greatful. Hopefully the new GTR game coming out in 2011 will include the WTCC like Race 07. I would buy it in a heartbeat for sure. 👍
 
Well guys, after swopping discs, TOCA2 got a drive. Variable weather is in and pitsstop strategies in Championship mode.

2 Videos, one on Croft 3 laps sunny and one on Oulton Park showing variable weather 👍




Imagine this stuff in HD :D , would simply be the most stunning stuff ever ;)

Still have a hell of a surprise coming up.......

Those toca2 vids are awesome. I think its safe to say that it has better sounds than GT :sly: fantastic onboard cam too :)

Do you have Toca 3?

Yes the sound is really impressive, actually the whole game is impressive. Even graphics for that time were quite amazing with 16 Cars on Track!

Toca 3, I have too, it's called Toca World Touring Cars, those vids are in the first post.

Haha, funny F1 97 and ToCa2 were the best games ... I think I was playing that even more than GT 1&2... I wish I still had my ToCa2 disc, only have the WTC, but that wasn't as good (handling, graphics).
They really should make a HD version, maybe like ToCa 1&2 reloaded? :)

I loved the Volvo or was a Renault? Probably both.
