Finally discovered why my truck was leaking coolant: a leaking water pump gasket.

Started around 5pm -7GMT, got the water pump off, installed a new one and put everything else back together around 30 min ago. Just need to flush the system and pour in some new coolant and I should finally be done with that.

THEN, sometime later on I need to find out why I'm leaking oil/ATF...which would most likely require the engine to come out. God that's going to be fun...:ouch:

Well, at least I got my corn beef and cabbage today halfway though the job :D (my dad is a trucker, so we delayed St. Patricks day diner till today...and it was GOOOOOD).

Used '98 S10...I could probably see why the owner sold it to my grandpa now, in which (when he passed away), was bought my dad and given to me as a "fixer-upper". My dad was going to get an older Camaro for me to fix up...but since my grandpa passed away, he bought it from my grandma. Well, at least I won't need to buy a truck later :).

Are you serious? The most common engine oil leak is usually from the rear main seal behind the fly wheel/Flex plate which you should be able to clearly see if you get under the car, if not the case you may just need to tighten up your oil filter or check around the Cylinder head for leaks. For the automatic i would be making sure its not your steering rack/power steering pump first before checking the lines going to the transmission, more than likely it may just be the gasket around the oil pan which is usually made out of cork, a simple service is all it takes to replace this.

My point: you dont need to take your engine out.
