I do not know how to start this thread off. I will just sort of give you a story of what happend.

I was at school Friday, it was 4th period, and everyone as ready to go. With about 10 minutes left in class, our principal at our High School came to my class and asked my teacher to see him outside. Although, it as not only the principal, there were two cops next to him. Our teacher looked shaken, yet he still went to the door and stepped out. He returned a minute later, gathered his things and left. He was arrested and fired for molesting a student in my class.

This is all really weird to me. Although it is weird, it is not new. When I was in 7th grade my Spanish teacher was arrested and fired for molesting two girls in my class. I live in an middle class/upper middle class town. It is weird how things like this happen here. :(

What do you think about this? Does it happen often about where you live? What things do you think should be done when hiring teachers?

Yeah, I started school monday before last. Things happen so quickly. He might have had her last year as well, its all just so weird.

wow that's cool...at least they got the guy...

One algebra teacher at my school, he was 23 or so, and he hated teaching. I have no clue as to why he even tried to teach, but he didn't know how to teach, and at the end of the year he failed most of his students. He taught a whole 1 year, luckily I didn't have him.

Also there was a rumor that a teacher here had a pic of himself in a suggestive pose on the net and that he also passed it out to several girls...I don't know who the teacher was but it doesn't sound good....

VC, what'd he do exactly? Did anyone notify the rest of the students? If I was the parent of another student in that class, I'd want to know what went on.

Atleast the school took action.

When I was in High School (mid 70's), there was a prominent wrestling coach that was caught molesting the wrestlers. He wasnt caught for years as this happened until a set of twin wrestlers told him out.
Funny thing is, he was the best wrestling coach in the state of NJ and had many of his wrestlers go to NCAA titles and championships. Our school had several state titles with this coach and one of his student became an olympian in one of the Olympic games. His name was Darrell Burley and was always top of the class and remember seeing him wrestle on tv while working offshore in the early 80's. It was cool to see him (Darryl) on the Olmpic games and look back on his coaching.
Why couldnt the coach just resign himself to being a world class coach and not molest kids??
I just cant see the reason why anyone would want to do that.
Never trust anyone I always say.

dang that hecka sucks, well today was my first day of skool and it feels good to be back, lots of girls got pregnant during the summer and my old friend is back. yup Seniorz rule, & yea its time for me to get some girls and the ones last year even look better this year.

dude by me, alot of the teachers have affairs, we dont have to much kid-teacher action but alot of teachers have affairs, and since i go to a prochial (sp?) school they need to be good "role-models" so they always resign, becuase they would be fired if they dont

Don't completely judge him... There have been a couple incidents in Calgary here (in the last decade) One was just some girl looking for attention, and the other was real.

Generally the police seem to be more free with arresting potential child molesters than they do with murderers...

If he did it, well off to jail with you... May as well stay there as people like that are generally repete offenders, and have no place near kids.

Atcually... Thinking about what you said is odd... generally they don't pull them out of classes, they handle it privately.

Guilty or innocent, he is done teaching... If he is innocent, then there will be a large defermation of character lawsuit happening.

actually alot of crap goes on, a football coach of mine supposedly "was fooling around" with a 16 year old girl. he was divorced but his ex-wife lives in the south, arkansas or something but he was battleing with his wife for custudy of his daughter, his ex-wife was is a stripper, so duh, he didnt want his daughter to live with her, but his daughter hates him or something and DIDNT want to come up to wisconsin to live with him. so she does come up to live with him, by the courts command. AND SHE TURNS HIM IN FOR FOOLING AROUND WITH A 16 YEAR OLD... ok what if she is just makind it up to screw him over? i know the guy and thats the biggest bunch of bull ****. then in the paper the dumb **** attorney states "there were video tapes the the coach that seemed to focus on the poms team". i played football and
A.) he didnt video tape at all
B.) my family has video tape of the poms team, cuz duh what do you tape during half time when they preform?

the attorneys are so stupid they make everything sound big and bad but they dont tell you the whole story.. there was nothing mentioned about the custody battle and how his daughter absoluty doesnt want to live with him... just messed up, but not to dissmiss the fact that he couldnt have done anything, if he did he should be locked away.

It's not just today's schoolteachers, this happened at my HS back in the 80s. The guy wasn't arrested, though, but the girl's dad showed up at his house one night and gave him a pretty serious beating.

And when I was in college, one of my closest friends had been dating one of her HS teachers since her Sophomore year. They're married now.

Those turned out to both be long-term relationships, though. But a lot of it, I think, tends to be far worse and based on mis-using authority over students. But also, remember what Deathhawk said, occasionally someone will get charged wrongfully.

I dunno, I'm babbling, but am generally disappointed in how bad a lot of teachers are, particularly since I think education is extremely important. Maybe with the job market becoming so sour for a while now, more good people will consider teaching rather than be lured away to the higher-paying corporate world, and teachers as a whole will get better. But maybe not.

Of course, as in pretty much every field, you'll get a few excellent and a few nauseatingly bad people.

That sounds exactly like my algebra teacher! He didn't care, he lost control of the class the very first day of school. He was teaching only to get his doctor degree. The students were routy as hell. It was actually quite fun in his class :D only because he never had control of the class. He never stood up for himself, we would stab and jar at him, all he could do was send us to the office. One time, he said "Ins't algebra easy?" and then my friend said, "Like your wife.". He turned around and said "What did you say?" and my friend said nothing. And he let it go! What a sissy teacher! He can't even stand up for his wife. It even went to the point where he called in some adminstrators to have a "talk" with us. Out of 40 students at the beginning of the year, only 9, including me left at the end of the year. He flunked every single student he had, including me. :( I went to summer school and passed algebra with a B+. :)

If you could imagine the Subway guy, a little taller and with a tie on, that was my algebra teacher.

Rule: All teachers are stupid.

That is what I was thinking as well Deathhawk. You would think they would do that huh? I am thinking they did that because maybe they were sure of him doing it or something. Who knows, all I know is that I found this odd as well, maybe there was more to it than just molestation...

That is austin powers ish. :D (note to self drop pens with hot girls near by ;))

a lot of times, and it happened when i was in high school, the student themselves claim they've been molested, and they weren't. they make that up just to get some recognition from the other students, and to make the teachers look bad.

i dunno if that's the case, but teachers today aren't worse than the ones from the 70s and the 80s...

I agree. However the problem with this is that even if the teacher is innocent, and proclaimed that way in a court of law, they CANNOT continue teaching. Any RUMOR of such a happening true or not will cause a teacher to lose his/her job.

when that happens, they're defenseless... hard to be proven wrong, when 4 or 5 kids decide to make a story against you, even if you didn't do anything. and the parents will get with the kids, and you'll look like a sexual predator, when you absolutely did nothing...

a little girl at my school did that, claiming she was harrassed by the teacher (while the guy did nothing) and she litterally cracked in court... she had to tell everyone there her story wasn't true, she invented it to get some attention from everyone. I don't know what they do in that case, they're still minors, they cannot go to prison...

whoa, i better get back to work!

Hmmm... despite my complaints about the American Education System, the teachers in my district seem to all be fine. I've never heard of any incidences in my area in the 14 years that I've lived here.

Sorry to hear all about that VC. :(

Only one good thing so far has come out of his firing. We were supposed to have a test over chapter 3 on Monday. The test has been postponed. ;)

When i was 12 years old, i went to High School. My mentor of the first year was a 40 year old man. It was his first year teaching, before that he had his own bussiness. Before the year was over, that man totally stressed out, and flipped when i and a friend stayed after class to ask him something. He started yelling and swearing, and then he kicked us both out of the classroom.
But he kicked us both in our backs right out of the room.

The next day he was fired.

See, this is why I hate the States. I'm from America, I'm an American, but the damn liberals here really piss me off. That, and the fact that the press has too much freedom. Think of all the people they've screwed over for saying they're guilty, when in court the people are found innocent? I just remember back in the Olympics a few years ago, what was it, '96? Anyway, I think it's really about time to say "Hey, listen up, we need to get some PRIVACY here!" I can also understand the press wanting to know what our government is doing, but can we really have our plans brought out into public? That's just idiotic! It's about time that Congress and the Supreme Court change some things around here!

A little P.S.

The Age of Reason is around 8-9 years old, so that's when kids should know what's right and wrong.

By the time you're 12, so that's what, beginning of Middle School?, you are big enough that nobody can really force you to do anything, unless you give them the upperhand to begin with. So the main thing you have to realize is this:

Many of those people choose to do whatever. They are interested, so who can you blame? Sure, the older person(in this incident, the teacher or coach) is responcible, but not completley. The 'victim' is also responcible for not getting their äss out of there, and telling somebody.

Now for the literally kicking somebody out of a room, this "Zero Tolerance" bullshït has got to go. Sometimes, nothing's better than a physical punishment. Otherwise, I predict that some kid will sue a Phy Ed teacher for punishing him/her by taking a lap around somewhere.
