Tokyo - The Invasion and The Retaliation

Random testing on my part, done in Arcade Mode because I don’t have the credits to buy/use the cars in GT Mode. All tests done in Automatic, no aids, and Economy Tires on Tokyo R246. All cars are stock with 250~300 HP.

The Invasion

Buick GNX (1987)

Power: 276 HP/4400 RPM
Torque: 359.98 gt.lb/3000 RPM
Weight: 1600 KG
Drivetrain: FR

Pros: Has higher gear ratios, so you get more top speed. Only went above 3rd gear one time and that was just for a second before taking the first turn. Sounds pretty nice, though I dunno how accurate the sound is.

Cons: Drives like a tank. Kinda slow compared to what I’d heard but you can’t always believe what you hear. I was disappointed with this car. Honestly. :nervous:

T2 – 1’17.819
Lap – 2’20 600

Chevrolet Camaro Z28 Coupe (1997)

Power: 285 HP/5200 RPM
Torque: 324.75 ft.lb/2400 RPM
Weight: 1581 KG
Drivetrain: FR

Pros: Drives great, and sounds great to me.

Cons: Lags slightly at the low RPM’s, but not enough to complain too badly about

T1 – 0’19.275
T2 – 1’16.763
Lap – 2’18.656

Chrysler Prowler (2002)

Power: 250 HP/6400 RPM
Torque: 255.32 ft.lb/3950 RPM
Weight: 1287 KG
Drivetrain: FR

Pros: It looks and sounds great.

Cons: Over steer that almost made me spin out on that last turn. Also you can’t really race it against other people, I just wanted to include Chrysler in my test. :ill:

T1 – 0’20.093
T2 – 1’17.067
Lap – 2’21.392

Ford Mustang GT (2005)

Power: 295 HP/5750 RPM
Torque: 319.69 ft.lb/4500 RPM
Weight: 1568 KG
Drivetrain: FR

Pros: Good all around car to me. Faster than I expected too.

Cons: Had a few steering problems, but I think that was more my braking pattern than the car.

T1 – 0’19.126
T2 – 1’14.491
Lap – 2’16.320

Infiniti G35

Power: 276 HP/6200 RPM
Torque: 267.61 ft.lb/4800 RPM
Weight: 1530 KG
Drivetrain: FR

Pros: Amazing to drive. Had a lot of fun testing this one.

Cons: I still think those taillights are horrible to look at. And sometimes the over steer becomes too much too.

T1 – 0’20.007
T2 – 1’15.974
Lap – 2’18.452

Lexus SC300 (1997)

Power: 276 HP/6200 RPM
Torque: 278.46 ft.lb/2400 RPM
Weight: 1560 KG
Drivetrain: FR

Pros: Good drive mostly. Nice appearance and sound as well.

Cons: Has a fair amount of under steer, and when you get it to over steer sometimes hard to bring back to the road.

T1 – 0’19.832
T2 – 1’17.839
Lap – 2’20.765

The Retaliation

Honda NSX (1990)

Power: 276 HP/7300 RPM
Torque: 216.98 ft.lb/5400 RPM
Weight: 1350 KG
Drivetrain: MR

Pros: Just amazing to drive. A tad slower than the rest but definitely the most fun I’ve had testing.

Cons: A tad slower than the rest. But not the worst

T1 – 0’18.662
T2 – 1’16.487
Lap – 2’18.165

Mazda RX-7 Type R Bathurst R (FD) (2001)

Power: 276 HP/6500 RPM
Torque: 231.45 ft.lb/5000 RPM
Weight: 1260 KG
Drivetrain: FR

Pros: Excellent drive, no wheelspin even when stomping on it, just overall great car.

Cons: None :D

T1 – 0’18.490
T2 – 1’13.343
Lap – 2’13.400

Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 Turbo (J) (1995)

Power: 276 HP/6000 RPM
Torque: 314.63 ft.lb/2500 RPM
Weight: 1710 KG
Drivetrain: 4WD

Pros: Nice looking car. Somewhat fast.

Cons: Understeered badly at every major corner and on some slight curves.

T1 – 0’19.160
T2 – 1’16.872
Lap – 2’19.262

Nissan Skyline GT-R (R33) (1995)

Power: 276 HP/6800 RPM
Torque: 271.23 ft.lb/4400 RPM
Weight: 1530
Drivetrain: 4WD

Pros: It’s a 4WD that drives almost like an FR. It kept the wheelspin down cuz of the 4WD but drifted as good as or better than some FRs. Plus the R33 is my fav Skyline

Cons: None really except it can get outta control if you’re not careful.

T1 – 0’18.209
T2 – 1’13.479
Lap – 2’14.424

Subaru Legacy B4 2.0GT specB (2003)

Power: 276 HP/6400 RPM
Torque: 253.15 ft.lb/2400 RPM
Weight: 1430 KG
Drivetrain: 4WD

Pros: It’s 4WD and has dual exhausts. Gotta love the dual flame :D

Cons: As with all 4WDs, it was hard to turn at times but it was better at it than most I’ve driven.

T1 – 0’18.377
T2 – 1’14.010
Lap – 2’14.448

Toyota Supra RZ (1997)

Power: 276 HP/5600 RPM
Torque: 332.71 ft.lb/3600 RPM

Cons: None really.

T1 – 0’18.220
T2 – 1’14.655
Lap – 2’14.476

As you can see by the list below, the RX-7 took the win by a whole 1.024 seconds. Hopefully this will be helpful to someone trying to buy a mid-range car. :D

great write up with testing these cars in their "factory settings" though i thought it was pretty obvious that Chevy SSR was the slowest due to the weight.. still great insight given to us drivers..

yeah once I got it on the track and saw that I was like yeah this is gonna suck. right now though I'm lacking in cars in GT mode so of course I don't have them in Arcade mode.. maybe I should've left chevy out too. I only left dodge out cuz the only one that fit was the RAM

once I get more cars I'll prolly update it :)

Just had a quick blast in the NSX since I was surprised at it's poor showing too. Using exactly the same configuration, I did 3 complete laps to make sure I'd got a clean one, the 3rd lap completed in 2'12.298!

I have to say a few things though, I haven't driven automatic in GT4, and it's weird to go back to, I was fighting the urge to change gear the whole time.
Second, this car hates the Economy tyres! I guess it just takes some getting used to!

Anyway, that's my $0.02!

good time, you're prolly better at drivin it than me. I had a hard time with the NSX being clean too, so yeah. Good job though. :) I may re-test them while I'm not so tired since I got a few days off work too.
