Nice CGI trailer but whats with the JRPG'ing up of all the characters! (the look has got Square Enix written all over it). I know its meant to be young Lara but she looks nothing like herself!

I would love to see if it revitalizes the franchise, It will probably take loads of hints from Uncharted.

Robin.

To be fair, I have yet to see a TR game that is better than either TR1 or 2 on the PS1. Fancy graphics have never swung me in the past, I doubt this will be any better sadly.

They made her a whole lot better looking too. I look forward to the full game. I enjoyed the older tomb raiders.

I don't know how much, if any, they have completed on this game because its slated for a fall 2012 release which is miles away so maybe this trailer is all they have! I'm still hoping they show something at least for E3 other than this.

The gameplay demo at the 360 conference looked amazing, you can see they have given her a scared / naive personality because obviously this is all set before she became the person she was in all the previous games. The fear really comes through and its refreshing, just sad Keeley Hawes isn't voicing Lara anymore.

The only problem is a fall 2012 release date is stupidly long and by then who knows what we will be playing, new consoles may have even been previewed by then.

I would expect a different person because it is a different Lara..I couldn't picture Lara with the same voice actor if she was still new.

A Message to the Tomb Raider Community

When Crystal Dynamics first set out to reboot the Tomb Raider franchise, there were two goals that we were extremely passionate about. The first was to create a modern Tomb Raider game that would surprise and excite gamers. The second was to make this the best game of our careers, something we would be really proud to be a part of. We truly believe that we have something very special on our hands and we can’t wait to share it with you.

Our priority now is to make sure we fully deliver the very highest quality game. In order to do this, we have decided to move the game’s release date by a few months, from Fall 2012 to the first quarter of 2013.

We’re doing things that are completely new to Tomb Raider in this game and the additional development time will allow us to put the finishing touches into the game and polish it to a level that you deserve. We believe this is the right choice and I guarantee it will be worth the wait. The game is looking amazing and we can’t wait to show it to everyone at E3 in a few weeks.

Hehe, that means they're now competing with NaughtyDogs brand new IP, which is The Last Of Us. It will be out next year for sure. :)

Tomb Raider E3 2012 Trailer - Crossroads

Seems very Uncharted like? Don't you guys think so?

Does look great from a story and character point of view, but I'm afraid crystal Dynamics don't seem to be able to nail the graphics of Uncharted or The Last Of Us. This is because of cross-platform development. I'm sure though that the game will look fantastic in its own way and play great too, another blockbuster for Lara coming up I think.

Yeah, its a pity its multi platform because if Sony managed to nab the exclusivity I'm sure it would improve its graphics not having to get it to work on both systems. I'd be interested to know which one is the lead development console.

It does look like a great game though, good that they have taken the darker angle but one thing I'm finding slightly odd is her voice. I know its different because Keeley Hawes is no longer voicing her but it needs to be posher!

Ok two thing wrong with the E3 video. 1. I hate the battering Lara is getting, and int not because I don't like to see lady's gettin hurt, it's because she is getting such pounding and doesn't seem to effect the gameplay much, if your going to gritty and real then do it properly, the drakes games were great because they found the balance between colourful and fun gameplay with a sense of realism, seein Lara take a 30 foot drop onto a branch that would cause serious injury only to walk it off after 10 seconds detracts from the gritty realism.

2. This I problem not just with this game but 99% of des and their games now, and that's pre-planned DLC. I hate the fact they announce it at ashow like this, because they are telling us all, "you suckers are buying an unfinished game and there is nothing you can do if you want to see the extra stuff" not cool.

Graphics do look nice and @Robin I think if they have timed exclusive for the DLC I'm betting the 360 is the lead development.

Yeah it does look like it will be 360 lead if its got timed exclusives, just like Underworld. Just hope its not got any PS3 issues because the previous one did apparently.

I agree with you about the battering she's taking, jeez she's got a massive leg wound, broken bones and god knows what else yet still seems to be managing perfectly! They need to have some kind of health system which makes her struggle, limp along etc.

I also agree about this trend is DLC and it absolutely stinks! It just says "we could have put it on the disk but we purposefully held it back to rip you off even more". I really do miss the good old days of complete shipped games.

Another thing which I thought about this game was you wouldn't want to play it too loud because someone might call the police thinking theres a domestic going on! That or it sounds like porn. Seriously how many video games have a girl screaming in it 90% of the time.

I see that Crystal Dynamics uses quite a lot of Uncharted-like action sequences.
Nicely done. 👍

Camilla Luddington

Square Enix has just revealed “the voice and performance actress” behind Lara Croft in their upcoming Tomb Raider reboot, and it’s none other than the True Blood star Camilla Luddington.

According to the developer, after an “international talent search using scouts in Europe and the US,” they settled on her, as they believe she is fully capable of conveying the “depth of emotion and the youthful tone needed for Lara Croft in the upcoming reimagining of the Tomb Raider franchise.”

According to Crystal Dynamics head Darrell Gallagher, selecting Lara was no easy task, as finding the perfect actress to play the character was “one of the most important jobs for us to get right. This Tomb Raider game is very different to any other and we are demanding far more from the voice and performance acting than ever before as we take the franchise in a new direction,” he said.
