There's a new Tomb Raider game coming out. It is a remake of the OG Tomb Raider but updated for modern times. TBH honest it is not a remake or remaster but a reimagining of Tomb Raider 1. It is the first game in the new unified timeline where Tomb Raider 1 follows the ending of Shadow of the Tomb Raider. The Survivor trilogy reset Lara's origin and now with the remake we get the classic Lara that some of us are more familiar with.
Here's the trailer from the state of play:

Here's the latest gameplay preview:

For me I am excited about this game. I like the Survivor trilogy but I felt like I was playing Uncharted: Tomb Raider. Those games seemed more focused on being Uncharted clones than Tomb Raider games. It will be interesting to do some of the fights from TR1 with modern graphics and controls. Don't get me wrong when I play the remakes the tank controls are like riding a bike but having the controls from the Survivor series will be good. Also the price for the game is $60 which works for me. I guess we will see how this plays out.

Oh man I am SO hyped. Tomb Raider megafan, and I don't think I've ever seen someone mention it on here

After a bit of a drought since Shadow it's looking like a good time to be a Lara fan.

It does get a bit old seeing them regurgitate old games again, but, at least we know there's a new story coming - and I like the idea that this will tie together the new and old timelines. Fingers crossed for a Legend remake, it was my favourite in the series and deserves some love.

Also a big TR fan here, one of my earliest gaming experiences was Tomb Raider II and I've been hooked since, the music in that game still brings me back. Very excited about this next game and Catalyst for that matter. Learned yesterday that Legacy of Atlantis will be directly connected to the Survivor trilogy which is good to hear.

What's crazy to think is that Anniversary was a remake of the first game already but even that game is nearly 20 years old. I am all for playing the original game over and over, but I do also want to see the other games get remakes, but that doesn't seem likely.

On a side note, I am patiently waiting for Underground to be released on PS5 so we can have all 12 main-series games on there at least.

The previews weren’t exactly glowing about the current state of the game, hence the delay I guess. Plenty of time to optimise before Feb though. I never played any of the games before the Survivor trilogy so I’m looking forward to trying this.

TBH I think I want to get this game just for the T Rex fight. I remember watching my older brother doing that fight and I was hooked after that. I always enjoyed the puzzles. I never finished TR1 but I did finish TR2. I loved that game. I remember the monks that were in the temple where you fight the final boss, if you shoot them they would fight you every time you cam in the temple. I had a time trying to fight them and final boss at the same time :D. I am looking forward to this game and Catalyst.

I played the original TR on PS1 and I didn't like the tank controls in combination with the precise jumping/grabbing to ledges it was required. TR only grabbed my attention with the new "Survivor" trilogy, which I've bought and completed across many platforms (Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Series X/S and PC).

Recently, I bought the Uncharted trilogy to have something to play on my PS5 other than GT7... I finished the first, and thought it was OK, I left the second unfinished and I'm not itching to return... Maybe it's the fact that they are frozen in the PS3 era while TR did update for newer hardware... or the fact that I don't really care about Nathan Drake.

Anyways, I'm looking forward to this new era of TR, including the new show.
