Actual Screen Shot from Demo:

Download it here.

It's beautiful, large, and lush in true Lora Croft style!

It looks like more of the same which isn't a bad thing with a whole new face lift. From the very first Tomb Raider with gorilla's jumping out of dark passage ways, Lora has been dazzling the gaming community.

Any other fans of the Lora Croft legacy?

I got hooked by the demo disk that was included with my PSX. it included an E3 type demo of TR2. I became re-attached by picking up a copy of TRA (Anniversary), so I went back and located a copy of the original TR.

someone gave me gaming mags which showed preliminaries of the current TR while it was still in production. something special about light effects. also, i had read that they FINALLY based Lara's movements on Motion Capture this time.

there will be very lucky people that play this version of TR.

I tried the Demo on 360, it felt hugely linear and alot of 'oh what a conveniantly placed rock/tree/ruin/pole' moments kind of kill the exploration. I hope the full game is better but I for one will be avoiding it.

I doubt it will be anything other than what you described. There's always been "that one path" that exists in the Tomb Raider series. I didn't notice this one being any different. Other than new graphics and more moves (going for realistic style and movement), I don't see the actual game play style to be revamped into anything different. It can be challenging at times finding that path however. Being a totally open world sand box (i.e. GTA, Oblivian, ect..) it is not, but Lora is looking hotter than ever. :D

Yes, I had a teenage crush on Ms. Croft

It appears that Gamespot gave it a whopping 7.0. Nothing really innovative here. More of the same with next generation graphics. If you're a TR fan, this would be a good addition, but otherwise, one might find something better to spend 50-60 USD on considering some of the monster titles that have been and are being released.

Umm... Its Lara :)

I really enjoyed TR Legend and I think Crystal Dynamics did an excellent job keeping the series fresh. Its looks like, as you said, more of the same with better graphics.

I was going for the game on PS3 but 2 things have annoyed me...

1. 360 exclusively had the console demo which sucks because I really wanted to see how it faired on its first PS3 outing.

2. Edios have been at it again twisting reviewers arms to give it a good score. The game may well be good on its own merits but basically threatening people if it gets lower then an 8.0 is pathetic.

Jeff Gerstmann who presumably got fired because of giving K&L a low score talked about this recient underworld harrasment on Giant Bomb.

Oh and if you guys didnt know Alison Caroll is the new face of Lara Croft... she was a receptionist at a golf club then she landed this! I think shes the most attractive Lara they have ever had and she does look very similar to the in game Lara.

for YOU guys, these kind of games might be pie, but I consider them a tough overcooked shoulder steak WITH freezerburn.

Paco: hehe. care to explain the joke to an old fogie?

'cause when I was 13, the ONLY Heroine in existance was in a space suit :P

oh, and the trademark Knockers that I remember belonged to a Killer Instinct character...we called her ol Shoebox bleeps

I was actually 22 not 13, in any case, I didn't care how she spelled her name, she was hawt. :D

I seem to remember Orchid from Killer Instinct making an impression also. :)

*and for the most part, I am a horrible speller*

I'll try Tombraider eventually. I think. But before then I'll have to go back and through Hidden&Dangerous 2: Sabre Squadron. Aaaah such an amazing game H&D 2! Even with the oh so very stupid AI teammembers it was awsome. One really had to babysit them, otherwise they would go get themselves killed, get stuck somewhere or fire continuously at an enemy too far away for them to hit until they emptied every clip they had for the long mission. Telling them to hold fire was an even worse option. Aaaah those were the days :)

I own the previous two TR games but I'm not so sure about buying Underworld yet after playing the demo (maybe when it's on budget). The main problems with the series is the combat and the pretty much linear levels. At least so I've read, they've finally got rid of the awful boss fights that hampered Legends and Anniversary.

I'd like to see the puzzles get harder and more demanding with less hints given and multiple paths which vary in difficulty on each level. Combat is okay to have as it helps break up the puzzle-solving but it needs to be improved and be less clumsy to control. Although Underworld looks very good I wish they'd spend at least an equal amount of effort on developing the gameplay as I feel it's not progressing enough at the moment in newer titles.
