Well it's been rumoured for ages but we have finally got to see what's next for the franchise because of some dopey caterer took a picture confirming it!

I really hope this one FINALLY goes back to basics and does what everyone loved about the first 3 games, no open worlds, just great levels and fun! The look of the font and the number 5 suggests they are going back to those golden days.

Even Tony Hawk's HD was a disappointment, Robomodo really hasn't done the series justice. Please bring back Neversoft (or rather get Infinity Ward to make it!).

Chef leaks Tony Hawk 5 game title while working pro skater's event

A California chef and caterer might have trouble booking clients in the future, as he's providing food and drink at an event for Tony Hawk and accidentally leaked that the pro skater is likely unveiling a new game at said event.

According to the LADBible, Joe Youkhan was hired to whip up meals for guests at a special presentation hosted by Hawk. The chef posted a picture of the venue to his social media, and in doing so, he seems to have unwittingly leaked that a new entry to Hawk's video game series is on the way and expected to debut shortly.

The picture clearly shows Youkha, the chef and owner of The Tasing Spoon, at the venue ahead of the event, but you can see a projection screen behind him that quite obviously displays "Tony Hawk 5". The photo, which has since been pulled, was also posted with the following caption: "#TastingSpoon catering for Tony Hawk".

Hawk first announced via Twitter last year that he was working with Activision on a new console game and that fans of the Pro Skater series will be hyped. He briefly teased the same news a few months later at CES 2015, when he appeared at Sony's event as a product ambassador for its latest 4K action camera.

The game's publisher has also confirmed the game is coming, but it was thought that "Tony Hawk 5" was a working title. The new game will be the 19th installment in the series, though it will be the fifth Pro Skater title.

The GTA style of sequel numbering strikes again!

I hope whatever they put together actually has the physics engine of the Tony Hawk games instead of some attempt to hack together something superficially similar, like that "remake" from a few years ago.

Well sweeping U, U2, AW, P8, PG, R, S & HD under the carpet isn't such a bad thing. The series died after 3 IMO, 4 kinda sucked.

Skate owned the last generation, I wonder if EA would revisit that if this takes off.

Also the fact Hawk now seems to be a Sony ambassador could be significant, maybe this could be a PS4 exclusive... maybe Sony are going to dev it in house... that would be awesome.

THPS 3 and 4 were the best, in my opinion. I liked THPS3 the most although I was never a fan of the time limit.

They had something going on with P8 but the level designs, the lack of 'Create a park' and board as well character cusomization let the game down big time. Didn't like 'Nail the trick' either, at all.

Hopefully, TH5 will bring back those glorious 6th gen days.

American Wasteland and Underground were my all time favs. I had mixed feelings about Project 8 though.

I loved proskater 3 and really liked American wasteland. I'd absolutely buy this if it's actually good...

Can we fix the title to Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5?

Current title is very wrong...

We don't know if it's got 'Pro Skater' in the title yet, according to the leak it's not in the logo so TH5 is still the working title.

Sony exclusive? That'd be commercial suicide for a game like Tony Hawk's Pro Skater.

Physics from THUG and you're golden.

Sony has won the console war with the PS4 and TH1 and 2 were pretty much only played on Playstation's so it's not totally unbelievable.

And how much has the gaming industry changed since 1999/2000?

A lot.
I'll admit that you have a point, however, as Nintendo and Microsoft as proven very often is that money talks, and fork over enough cash you could win exclusivity, whether it be short term or permanent.

If reports that Sony is developing (not publishing, since Activision still has the rights) the game in house are true, there is really no way that this sees an Xbox console. Ever!

"Who is this Tony Hawk?"

"And what is this thing called: Pro-Skating?"

(Imaginary Millenial target market member, under twenty.)

Have they even seen a Skate... Board.

"Is it an app? I only interact with the world through a screen!"

Activision are cozy with Xbox for CoD, I'd be very Surprised if this was Sony exclusive.

Well the rumours stem from this...

Depends on how much control, if any, Hawk has on the franchise. 3rd party exclusive titles still come around now and then so you never know.

I would be kinda funny if this is an Activision published, Infinity Ward developed game. People who don't know the franchise will think it's an FPS

360 varial kickflip no scope headshot. Now that would be someting.

The funny thing is, I just learned how to "board"... after nearly three decades of trying to stay off boards.

I'm sure a lot of us who remember those days are excited about this title... but I'm wondering how many conquest sales to newer, younger gamers this game will get.

-

Still, can't wait to see what they come up with. :D

I believe Tony himself still has a fair bit of controlling clout when it comes to games.

What's the best page to follow on FB for updates do you reckon, Activision?

They marketed Action Cam through Xperia Lounge on my phone also, so I don't know why that video caused people to think of Playstation exclusivity.

If you are referring to Bayonetta 2, its a totally different beast. Platinum wasnt even recieving the funding to make Bayo 2, hence why Nintendo picked it up and published it. It wasn't a matter of it ever appearing on other consoles(as of right now), it never stood a chance without Nintendo's cash.

I wasn't just referring to that. Microsoft has shelled out millions for timed exclusivity on both Tomb Raider 2 and all Call of Duty DLC.

Is it me or do those graphics look kinda meh for next gen? I know it's early days but still...

As long as it's awesome to play nothing else matters

Looking forward to this.

I like many played the Pro Skater series to death and am really looking forward to a return to basics!

Also it's coming out on PS3 too which pleases me greatly :)

Going by the graphics, and the fact it's Developed by Robomodo I'm not feeling at all positive.

Back in the day I was moderately known on THPS-THUG2 online...I've played them all to death.

THPS HD (by Robomodo) looked nice. The physics were ABSOLUTELY ATROCIOUS. Completely clunky and unresponsive. Horrible to play, horrible feel, just bloody awful.

All Activi$ion needs is current-gen assets like textures and models and the direct physics engine from THUG. Hip transfers, acid drops, spine transfers etc.

Seriously, THUG physics are perfect. Just update the visual assets.

I love skate but I know no Tony Hawk game would dare attempt those physics.

But given it IS Robomodo, who did THPS HD, I'm genuinely upset about the news.

Console only? I'd loved it to be published to PC, but I'm curious for more info. :p:tup:
