Okay, so here's the question: I was watching Top Gun last night and during the scene in which Tom Cruise and Kelly McGillis kiss for the first time I thought to myself 'wouldn't this be a great time (a scene like this in any movie) to start kissing your girlfriend/boyfriend/husband/wife/whatever?' I mean, it could certainly be a mood-starter, with the silhouettes and all. On the other hand, it could be incredibly awkward if he/she hasn't seen the movie before and is more interested in the plot than your romantic intentions.

Anyways, does the whole parallel kissing thing sound too cliché and/or cheesy to you, or did I just overthink the whole thing?
 
Seems pretty cheesy to me, but who knows how a woman would feel about it, I expect suprised, then aroused, a bit suspicious, then fear.

How well do you know her? What one girl may see as "cheesy" another may see as totally romantic.

Edit: Well since it's been mentioned, you can compare it to porn. Some girls might like the idea, while others will think you are perverted. These situations are really up to what type of girl it is.

What you do is invite the girl over to watch Top Gun, but before she comes over, record over everything past the kissing scene with the dirtiest porn you've ever watched. Then, when you lean in to kiss her and get her thinking "wow, this is the most romantic guy ever!" and gets all hot n bothered, the movie will flip over to the porn and you just take it from there.

If she gets freaked out by it though, or pretends to be (all girls like porn, some just won't admit it, basically its like guys and jerking off, some just won't admit it) just blame it on their your room mate/dad/grandpa and take the girl home. She obviously isn't right for you if she's not into freaky deaky porn. 👎

Too bad VCRs are in the end of their life span. It's hard to make this "mistake" with DVDs, Blu-Ray, or HD-DVDs...
