I'm sure this was discussed previously, but I couldn't find it in the "search" function.

The game has a similar structure to GT1, 2, 3, 4, where you decide how hard the races are by choosing a slow/fast car.

I want a challenge, but not a challenge determined by myself. I want a challenge determined by the developers. I think there should always be car, tire, HP, or PP restrictions. I'm sick of being 40 laps ahead in an endurance race just because I put on tires that were slightly better than the AI has.

Anybody think like me too?

Is today the day of reoccurring threads?

This should be implemented

Or maybe you should change tyres on the endurance races if your 40 laps ahead..

good point... But I only own two sets of tires for this car, racing hard, and comfort hard. Comfort hard is way too poor, and racing hard is way too good... I am now actually 2 minutes ahead of the 2nd place.

And anyway, what I'm trying to say, is that I shouldn't have to downgrade during a race just for a challenge. I believe the developers have the responsibility to create and fine tune the challenge. I believe a video game is interactive art, where there is challenge and reward. Both have to be constructed and presented by the developers.

Its made easier for a younger fan base. Good luck finding an adult simulator these days on a console. Console is mostly played by kids and young adults. Any racing game is way to easy now

It is only as easy as you make it. pd had to make it easy for people with less experience or skill. Try racing with a completely stock car, or with worse tires than the ai.

But if they fine tune it for you, then others will find it too hard. Yet others will still find it too easy.

It is impossible to fine tune the difficulty for everyone.

PD do it this way so that you can chose your difficulty level by picking a slower car, or with worse tyres.

GT is usually as hard as you make it, and if you make it easy, then you cannot really complain that it is too easy. You have the ability to make it harder if you so desire....

Why don't they section off the difficulty levels?

I do not believe they did this because they want to make it easy. Ever heard of "Easy - Normal - Hard - Super Hard" modes?

Sectioning difficulties like this makes games more fun. Well, this is just my opinion.

Double Post ^.
@ Chicken - I think it is iv'e seen alot today!

I think I remember that it was possible to adjust the difficulty of the AI in GT4's Arcade Mode. But for now I guess you should just de-tune your car if you want a good race with the AI.

Or try the Expert Seasonal Event.

Other than that, you will have to race against other humans.

Actually you check "the typical opponent" list and use that as the basis to the car you'd choose to do the race in and you even get the tire suggestion in the event introduction/overview.

Racing online against humans is the greatest challenge in the game, also the most fun!

I think I posted a similar thread ages ago. Yes, it would be nice if PD took their time to create the challenges but it's too late for GT5. Freedom is nice but only if the sandbox doesn't have any flaws. That isn't true for GT5.

We cannot not just try to match up with the AI and expect a perfect challlenge. Which tyres are appropiate here? How much should I handicap my car to make sure that I don't overtake the slow paced AI on the outside of the first hairpin? It requires some testing to find out how you can actually make it an achievement to win an event but I don't think the majority of the gaming world is that nerdy. The driving and the surroundings are great but the racing isn't something which makes my heart beat any faster.

Because if you chose easy level, the game would have to artificially slow faster cars down so you'd then be able to beat a 908 with a 207 and that's just completely unrealistic and against the "real driving simulator" tag line.

As you noted yourself, it's been like this with no difficulty levels (outside of arcade mode) since GT and I don't think they're going to change it now.
