So I picked up Too Human on the way home from work today, it got mixed reviews but I waited this long to get it so I figured I owed it to myself to buy it and play through it. It feels like it might be short but I don't know, after an hour of play I'm about 5% of the way through.

The controls are a bit weird. It's the console equivalent of a point and click style that Diablo made famous. After you get used to it then it's actually pretty easy to pull of some awesome combos. The amount of customisation of your character is pretty cool too and the graphics engine makes it all look good.

The story is a bit vague but I figure that's because I just started, although the mix of Norse mythology and Sci-Fi is certainly interesting and both have always been two favourite genres of mine.

So far, so good on the game but it's not perfect. I wouldn't go in expecting a Diablo but if you like loot whoring and epic battles then the game is one you should check out.

Hmmm, I'm not sure about it. The reviews certainly have mixed results, and I'm quite certain that we all remember the absolute mess the game was a few years ago at E3. Its not on my list of "must-haves," so I'll likely end up skipping it. With Star Wars: Force Unleashed coming out in about a month, I'll spend $60 on that instead.

Just a question:

Does Thor show up? My Dad's name is Thor, I'd love to see how they compare (lol).

I say ignore the reviews because this is indeed an extremely fun game. Especially if you like hack and slash RPGS.

Played the co-op with my gf last night for 4 hours straight. Could not put the controller down because the game is very addictive and each level gets more intense. Starts out very easy and gets extremely difficult. Still trying to get the hang of my bioengineer healing abilities. Also about 2 hours into the game my gf lost her laser gun and we are not sure how to get it back. There is a lot to this game and the more you play the better it gets.

I havent tried the single player campaign yet but I really enjoy the co-op campaign at this point. There were no frame rate drops and no lag ever in the entire 4 hours we played. Basically if you like hack and slash games like Baulders gate, Diablo, Gauntlet Dark Legacy, or Marvel ultimate Alliance then I think you will like this game for sure. Its not perfect and has some minor issues but they do not bother me at all. If your not sure then rent it to be safe. All I know is after 4 straight hours I could not put the controller down. It was getting better and better each level. I also like how you can trade weapons and armor with your co-op partner. That came in handy many times. And if you dont have items to trade you can use money or trade credits.

Yes Thor is in the game and yes your dad's name is the coolest name ever.

Badass! Its a damn-shame he looks nothing like the Marvel Comics character...

My best friend is a Halo fan Notice I didn't say Halo 3 and he really wants to get this game since it's like Halo, but because it's not Halo. I on the other hand will pass, or if I have to get it when it's like $20. How's that for mixed? lol

I cant see in any way how he would even think this is like Halo. :odd: :dunce:

I Thought it had a lot in how it looked...
Not at all. I played Halo 2 online for nearly 3 years straight and play Halo 3 to death each week. With that said I seriously cant see how someone could even think Halo by looking at this game. It looks more like Mass Effect than anything else.

I felt like Mass Effects was just a really bad attempt at being like Halo or being a "Halo Killer".
You have a strange thought process. (Is this the same person that was vipfreak?) lol Mass Effect is another game that is nothing like Halo at all. :odd:

Mass Effect is nothing like Halo, mainly because Mass Effect has an actually story behind and is an RPG. The closest thing I can think of that Mass Effect is like is Knights of the Old Republic, and the same guy wrote both of them.

Too Human is also nothing like Halo, if anything it's like a futuristic Diablo for the console.

I think Mass Effect is closer to the FPS side of things on the spectrum. At most it's about half-RPG and half-FPS.

Except there is nothing FPS about it since it lacks the FP part of the acronym.

Mass Effect is still very much an RPG type game since there is more dialogue and decision making in it then actual combat. The game is about the role you play rather then killing things. Yes there is shooting in it but every RPG has some combat element in it.

A third person shooter would be something like Gears of War, which is much more like Halo then any of the other games mentioned.

It had more of a third person shooter feel to me, because I play(ed) more Japanese RPGs. I don't remember having ever played an RPG where the only weapons you can use are guns. One of the people working for Square Enix said in an interview that he could not believe that Mass Effect was classified as an RPG.

I was taking about looks wise more than FPS wise. Of course nobody would actually out right copy Halo...

💡 I guess my secret is finally out. darn... :indiff:

I could just tell by the way you posted. lol

I simply cant put this game down at all. I now have around 8 hours total and we are on the 3rd world. The game gets incredibly difficult toward the end of world 2 so I cant even imagine how brutal world 3 will be. I would easily give this game a 9/10. I love all the loot collecting and the ability to trade with your co-op partner. You can also forge your own powerful items or repair the current ones.
One of these days I need to play the single player campaign but at this point the multiplayer co-op campaign is severly addictive. I see myself playing this the rest of the weekend for sure.

This game consumed most of our weekend. We beat it in about 15 hours and now we are on our second playthrough. I have over 20 hours into this game and now my character is level 35. Heathers has over 25 hours into the game her character is level 46. Most of the enemies we face are all around level 50. This makes it very brutal for me because my guy is a much lower rank but its still a blast.

Just cant say enough how fun this game is.

I tried the demo and wasn't impressed. The combat was pretty fun (and could have been better), but the graphics are a bit ugly, and the whole Norse mythology atmosphere is ruined by the wise-cracking, american-accented, poorly-acted characters, and inane cutscenes. The second time I died, I had no more motivation to continue.

I don't think this would be a wise purchase in my case.

They should have used the demo to show off how fun the co-op campaign is. The co-op is way better than the single player.

Except you get nothing but mindless action with the co-op. I play these types of games for the story element.

I am the other way around. I want mindless nonstop action. I dont feel like watching a movie while I am gaming. A little here and there isnt bad but I really have never cared much for stories. I just want action. :sly:

Finally not dying all the time. Runes make a HUGE difference!!

Up until last night I had 300 deaths and I was around level 38. My cybergenic bio-engineer would just get destroyed in battle when I played in co-op with anyone that was a higher level than 45.

Finally last night I decided to just get some new weapons and armor with empty rune slots. Every weapon I crafted or bought I made sure to put in "Armor increase" runes or "Bio-engineer healing increase". Made a HUGE difference. My armor went from 800 to 1,600!!!! I actually played for a couple hours and only died a couple times and thats against level 60 enemies. My healing spider also does a much better job in battle and the spider gauge increases much faster.

I cant say enough how much I love this game and hopefully some of this info will help others!!!

Ya I'm at level 23 and I have something like 700 total armour and a big hammer that does 530 damage. I've passed the first two chapters and I'm replaying them to gain some levels before continuing on.

You do realize the enemies level up while you level up right? If your a 23 your probably fighting level 26 enemies. You should just finish the game while your level is lower because its gets friggin brutal hard after your level gets higher. Also the enemies change as you level up too.
Heather and I went to level 1 last night (she is a 50 I was around 38) and the first troll(I think its called a troll) we encountered on the very first level was a troll that would freeze you and do slow motion to you. That was the very first one so you can imagine how brutal it is for us now.
Again, I would suggest finishing the game while your character is a lower level.
I believe my hammer or sword does around 2,000 damage.

Ya I know they level with you, a lot of games do that. I just wanted to be a little higher so I could use some better weapons and armour that I had. I'll probably start chapter 3 tonight.

Class: Cybergenic Bio-Engineer

Level: 50

Deaths: 321 (This was real bad until I doubled my armor)

Total time: 34 hours

Armor: 1624

Playthroughs: 2 full times through the game not counting the random levels I played on.
