Hi,

What do you think about these books?

I like the mags because they are quite interesting.I also like the Books because I think they're funny.I have two of the books,I have not started one,an the other one I have only read a bit.

How do you put a Hobbie tag on them? And my threads are a different topic to what they are meaning. Two of mine are about a cover, the others are not.

When you create a thread, you choose the prefix next to the title.

I think more what WallRunner is getting as is there are four threads that could have been just two... I don't know, I'm sure someone will figure it out.

Fixed.

You've made 5 new threads in the space of less than 2 hours. Just so you know.

Can we have one for our favourite blurbs? I think we need one for our favourite blurbs.

No to join the vultures here but "Your most unliked book cover?"

Jesus Christ...

Firstly the correct term is 'Disliked'. Then it could've been part of your other thread, as could have your other 2 threads.
Now I'm wondering did you EVEN THINK about it all before you posted 5 threads? Maybe you thought it was a great idea and thought it through completely, but I'm not betting on it.

If I was feeling really confident I'd guess you were between the ages of 12 and 15.

Maybe he was haphazardly referring to the past-tense status of a once-unique book cover? One that was...unlike...anything else?

Fail post is worth quoting and fixing.

In-correctness:

Hi,

What do you think about these books?

I quite like the Mags, because they are quite interesting.I like the books because I think there funny, but I haven't read all of one yet though.
That is some of the worst English I have seen from you, I am sorry but it is true.

Correction:

Hi,

I like the mags because they are quite interesting. I like the books because I think their funny. One of the books I have not finished (possible: and I am looking forward to finishing it)

Spaces, learn spaces. Spaces after full stops, spaces after commas, commas are not put in the middle of sentences, capitals are not randomly placed in a sentence etcetera etcetera etcetera.

Correcting fail post post fails.

 Damnit Daan I was 45 mins too late :D

But yes, the only correct English in here are myself and Jondot.:sly:

Oh god, I failed quite horribly and I admit it...not gone well at all.

As for the topic at hand.

I used to like TG mag, but now I don't - because they've latched onto the idea that they can report on stories that are in the TV series and just expand them a bit - they are so commercialised now. Early 90's was when TG was good. I have an issue with Jezza actually doing a road test (yes - in the magazine) on 200mph+ cars, and it was a damn sight more insightful that the stuff that they throw in these days. Peel away the ads for expensive adult brands and you'd be right in saying it was aimed at tweens. The books are really the same - as well as all the other merch. I was wandering through the mall aimlessly trying to look fro christmas prezzies, and the amount of Stig twaddle that was on sale is horrible. Stig mugs (passable) - Plastic, distorted 1/4 size Stig helmet shaped TG DVD holder - not so passable.

I honestly wouldn't be suprised if they bought out a Stig colouring-in book, which would take less time to complete than initially anticipated.

I think series 7 was when it started to slide. Series 5 was awesome. The cars and comedy were there in equal measure. Now its more aimed at pleasing those who didn't really have an interest in cars but like TG. There was a time when the words "newton meters" and "foot pound of.." were mentioned with the engine specs, but now all we're given is "a million torques". Come on Jezza - you can't just all of a sudden forget what torque the engine specs are calibrated in. Its all for fear that the not so interested people will go away (and will miss the big bang explosion finale at the end of the show) because "boring stuff" is being said about cars. What they need to do is take it back to series 5 (no less - the music and pp wasn't as good before, and nor was the stories) and have a proper car show instead of this "look at out big budget - good luck finding 5th gear doing this" attitude.

Phew....[/rant]

Get me an EVO - stat.

I just bought Autosport  I do have a TG subby and to be far it's usually an entertaining read, even if 50% of the pages are adverts.

What eighty wye too see too said.

The only times I've bought Top Gear mag recently was when they were giving away the cool wall magnets, and the one with the calendar.

I do have the Top Drives book, but I only got it as it was in Woolworth's closing down sale with loads of money off...

I've done the Mulholland drive one at night, fantastic stuff 👍

HILARIOUS FAIL, roflroflroflroflroflroflroflroflroflroflroflroflroflrofl. You had me roar with laughter just then mate. When I said Possible:, I meant you could put that in if you want, it doesnt make sense with possible in it. I think you just made my day and it hasn't even started yet.

I will not say anything more than this, do you read your posts before you post them?

I look at them after I post,mostly,but if there's mistakes,I edit it.

Clarkson's books and columns are often a good read. Good in the way that a Saturday Night Live sketch is good... but not good in the way that the Daily Show is good. In other words, fine entertainment, but not entertainment plus journalism.

Used to be his car reviews had more about the actual cars in them. Now it's just the humor.

I stopped buying the mags... just couldn't be bothered. I'd rather enjoy a good issue of Evo than flipping through the mostly regurgitated Top Gear UK stuff. Used to buy our local version of Top Gear... but was kind of pissed when they took a different direction to the editorials and removed James May's column... the old one was kind of more fun... the local staff once took it upon themselves to match the 1000+ kilometer range of the Honda Fit with a Ford Expedition. They loaded it to the gills with fuel, drove only at 3am, and somehow managed to coerce over 20 mpg out of it. Fun times.

Mmm, I find they're more along the lines of "Let's have a chat about my life for a while. Oh and then maybe I'll mention whether I like the car or not."

Sometimes it works, but more than often it's just a little wearing.
