Now I'm not much of a gamer, and the only reason I bought my PS3 was for GT5, and most of you know it's going to be a little while before that ever hits.

So I was wondering out of a couple of games which ones could possibly be the best decisions. I'm not much of a FPS shooter, but I tried out Battlefield 1943 at a friends and I was hooked on the game. My gripe with FPS' are mostly the fact they're too complicated. I just want to have a choice of a couple different soldiers, and a few maps to wreck people on. I really liked the war era mostly due to the more simplistic weapons as well.

I have thought of a few different FPS' I might be interested in from the videos and screenshots I've seen. I've played a little bit of COD:MW2 but I didn't like it. It was too dark, too indepth and I just didn't like the overall feel of it. Battlefield Bad Company 2 looks great, for a modern fps, and I love how Battlefield 1943 works. MAG also looks great, but again, too indepth. So many different weapon selections and able to improve a weapon and become specialists, and the sound of 256 players sounds amazing, but I think I would rather it 128 verses 128 charging one another in a large free for all team vs team.

Is there any advice or help to decide which to buy?

If you're not a big FPS fan, you could consider looking back to Killzone 2 as well, the demo is only single player but the online is frantic, there's pre-set classes to choose from but no vehicles. There's plenty of different game modes, plenty of death but nothing particularly complicated when there's 16 V 16 due to pure mayhem. It's intense, almost to much at times, but good fun for me, however the controls are a little different so try the demo to get a feel.

The Bad Company 2 demo is out now so you can give that a blast, I've yet to try it, and also an Alien V Predator demo is out for something different and I hear good things about it so far with some nice looking trailers as well. I guess one question is what kind of shooter are you looking for, an online or single player focused one? Or one which is tactical or straight up hectic? Things like that, have a look through all the demos you can find though, no harm in trying for free.

Yeah I have tried a few demos out and currently just downloaded BF BC2 when I finished typing that. It's okay, but again a little indepth.

I keep getting DNS connection errors so I can't even get a full game in..

I should have also mentioned that I'm not really into inhuman games. Not really any alien or zombie killers. Just human vs humans, and not too technical (Halo, futuristic type weaponry)

Again Killzone fits the bill quite well, they're both practically human, trust me when I say practically, the guns fire bullets and rockets not lasers and such even though it's set in the future. The class system is simple to, pick a class, pick a gun (sometimes you can't even do that), and dive in. There are some special abilities however which you may not like by the sounds although you don't have to use them yourself, others likely will be.
