So here are the pictures of the launch of the new Toro Rosso STR6.

Discus what you think of the car here :)

Personally, I'm glad that the car design is moving away form the Red Bull, it looks well proportioned and personally I like the colour scheme, and the fact that it look like a shorter car compared to the Sauber. I think this will benefit the team on the technical twisty courses.

These are all from the official F1.com website.

I did a search on this and didn't find anything so if I have overlooked it, then please close.

Meh, I'm not a fan of it. Looks almost identical to last years car. And I can't imagine its speed will set the world alight either.

Toro Rosso need a make-over. Or just a different owner. Anything. Its sad that people don't seem to care about this team anymore, they're boring and invisible. It also doesn't help when their technical director says they are aiming for 8th in the WCC...where has the ambition gone? It might be realistic but are they giving up trying to climb into the midfield?

It seems without exciting talents brought in by Red Bull, this team is not allowed to do anything beyond run cars for junior drivers. The result is no-one cares anymore. The only time they ever seem to get mentioned is when a new team gets close and people talk about targeting them as the backmarker "established" team. Their highlights of last year were Buemi's brief laps leading, Buemi's twin-wheel loss and the odd overtake from Alguesuari. Beyond that, they were the least-discussed team of 2010.

The sooner Red Bull sell this team to someone else, the better. Anything would have more passion than this current guise.

Indeed, they tend to be viewed as a second team as opposed to a underdog, which is a shame because, they have been an independent team as of 2008.

That and they don't have a truly exciting young talent behind the wheels like they did when they had S. Vettel.

I'm still a fan however.

I've never been a fan of Toro Rosso. They've only ever been a glorified GP2 team, designed to give Red Bull's young drivers some experience in Formula 1. But with the sheer number of drivers in the program, the lack of Formula 1 seats available and the low level of success that the RBYDP has had, I think it's safe to say that Toro Rosso has, by and large, been a failure. But most importantly, I object to Toro Rosso's presence because they're not really allowed to compete. As soon as one of their drivers shows promise, they're whisked away to Red Bull. And back when they were running the same chassis, Toro Rosso didn't get developments and upgrades until several races after Red Bull were done with them. They might be more successful than when they were known as Minardi, but at least Minardi was allowed to compete.

Monza 2008 was such a long time ago, wasn't it? STR back then had so much promise, and were a very good team all around! Now they're just a holding pin for either Buemi or Alguersuari until Webber retires or moves to another team. Maybe if Ricciardo comes on as a driver at some point, we'll see some of that '08 magic return. But until then, I'm keeping my eyes elsewhere.

The only thing I've liked STR for is the fact they have a rather cool paint scheme every year, especially next to the Red Bull's.

Really wish Red Bull would finally sell the team, my theory at least is that they are just keeping it so they can guarantee Webbers replacement is one from the RB program. Following that they will sell it, hopefully to someone who knows what they are doing.

Monza 2008 only really happened because Vettel was the only man who got his tyre choice right. I don't think Toro Rosso will suddenly be challenging the established order if Ricciardo gets a drive. Of all the cars that have been released so far, theirs is the most like their 2010 car. The only way they'll be having success is in bad conditions or races with a heavy casualty rate.

I suppose I'm just hopeful. He did get some fantastic times in that young driver test (I know he was quick mostly because the track had a four inch thick coating of tire rubber). I think we could all agree that the team was certainly better than they are now.

Also, Interludes, could you maybe put an "Formula 1" tag on this thread? Just to keep this thread organized with the other launch threads.

I forgot to put the tag on... sorry :guilty:

I like the idea of the STR team. I love Ferrari, and love Red Bull even more, but it seems like altogether it's one of those teams that is just kind of, back of the pack all the time.
