After a teaser published in February, Finnish specialty marque Toroidion has unveiled the 1MW electric concept at 2015 Top Marques Monaco.

The retro-styled fully electric supercar with gullwing doors comes from Finland and promises to offer 1,341 bhp (1,000 kW), hence the “1MW” designation. Other details are scarce at the moment, but on the company's website we found out the vehicle will have high-performance lightweight batteries with rapid swap capabilities.

Matching the output of the Koenigsegg One:1, the Toroidion 1MW is a hand-built concept that promises to offer "scalable performance" and was built with lightweight components. The company says it's fully street-legal and has been designed, developed and built entirely in Finland.

The startup was established back in 2011 by Pasi Pennanen with the bold objective of developing an all-new electric powertrain suitable for the Le Mans 24-hour endurance race. They are probably envisioning a racecar with hot swap batteries just like this 1MW concept.

More details will be revealed about the "innovative patented powertrain and lightweight concept car" after conducting a series of tests.

That car has as much electric power as a lightning strike, it's gotta be lightning quick too. It may also look like a Spyker.

Nope. These hinge on the A-pillars - like the SLR and McLaren F1 - so they're butterfly doors.

Road testing begins!

We are thrilled to announce that we have begun road testing the Toroidion 1MW Concept car and its revolutionary high-performance electric powertrain. The chassis is solid and grips the road tenaciously, and the torque and power provided by the powertrain is simply awesome.

The battery is performing beyond our expectations, and all the road testing and development in the studio consumed only 10 % of a full charge.

The Toroidion 1MW Concept took part in the Connoisseurs Motordag 2015
Each year, Connoisseur magazine organizes an invitation-only event for Sweden's A-list to view the latest and most exclusive cars at beautiful Steninge Palace. The Toroidion team was invited by Irmeli Viinanen of the Finnish-Swedish (FINSVE) Chamber of Commerce. We were honoured to take part and delighted to showcase the Toroidion 1MW Concept at this year’s Connoisseurs Motordag.

We enjoyed inspiring conversation with enthusiasts and dignitaries, and were impressed by the great interest shown in the Toroidion 1MW Concept car and powertrain.
