I have a question for all you GTP'ers out there... If you have had your tounge pierced, i have some questions. I'd appreciate them being answered :)

1. Does it hurt?
2. If it hurts, how bad?
3. How do they pierce it?
4. Does it swell up at all?
5. If so, how long does it stay swollen?
6. Do you have to replace the ring after a while/after its back to normal/no longer swollen?

Thanks in advance for any answers :)

It hurts really bad, it's irritating, eating will never be the same, you'll get bored with it within a month leaving you with a nasty hole in your tonque which could get infected before it grows shut. Yuk!

1. Yes...
2. Not much, but it's gonna suck for a while...
3. Sitck your tongue out, put something underneath it to "catch" the needle(usually a cork or something). Then they stick a fairly good sized needle through your tongue, pull it out, fill hole with a tongue ring.:p
4. Not really, but it's going to be pretty sore for about 3 days or so.
5. It'll be sore for 'bout a week and a few days.:) Depends on how you treat it.
6. You don't have to, but you'll want to as the ring they put in usually isn't a very good one, unless you picked it out beforehand. Plus, you're going to want to try other tips.

I figure I was born with all the holes I'm supposed to have...making more is like telling God he was wrong. I'm not prepared to make that statement. :smilewink

:)

Interesting observation....

So where do you stand on haircuts and makeup?

If God didn't want us to do it he wouldn't of made it possible for us to do it. He is, after all, omnipotent! ;)

(just playing devils advocate)

I will say that If you must do this thing, Pick someone very reputable. The risk for infection is high. Your mouth is a warm, moist, dark place. Perfect for growing organisms.
As a medical professional, I've never seen anyone have to have their tongue amputated becuz of peircing. I have seen some folks in pain though.
Also the stake thru your tongue... you will be tempted to run it over your teeth. It can chip the enamel off them. Be careful
Forewarned is forearmed.
Whatever you decide, please be well informed.
Josh sounds like he knows what he's talking about.
Peircings aren't my thing, but if its what you want...See line one of this post.

My friend got his tougne pierced recently and i was curious and ask him about all these questions and more.

He said:
1. Not really, skating falls hurt much worse.
2.....
3.He peirced it himslef, belive it or not, with a tac . First time he tried it, the tac when half way through and he pulled it out. He said that hurt. But the 2nd time it went all the way through. He pulled his tounge out as tight as he could with his fingers and just went for it.
4.Yes, but if you use listerine twice a say everything should be fine.
5.I wouldn't know, my friends did not swell up
6.hmm...I dunno.

But my friend did get bored of it and said it got more annoying than fun/cool/ammusing and let the hole grow back.

whats the point of Ear Peircing's, whats the point of make-up, whats the point of bathing, whats the point of trying to look good? Most peope do it because they think it makes them look better, or they think its cool. Don't go saying it isn't cool, who are you to say whats cool and whats not.

i have a mate who had their's pierced, and their partner loves it, i once had a boyfriend who had a pierced tongue and it was cool. As long as you are hygienic with it and don't catch it on anything it will be fine. Just be ready for LOTS of swelling and not being able to talk properly for a while ;)

OWWWWWWWWWWWW.......i just tried peircieng my tongue and instead of peiecing a whole in my tonque...i peirced a hole in my finger and then then tongue......now my finger is in my mouth........

1. No, it doesn't hurt.
2. Biting your tongue feels much, much worse!!
3. Josh explained it pretty well, except they usually put clamps on your tongue, as well.
4. Yes, it swells up considerably. You'll see the barbell and wonder why it's so long, but it does swell up to fill the entire length.
5. Depends on the person. It can go away in a few days or it might be swollen a week or so afterwards. Definitely listen to them when they tell you not to eat solid foods right away!!\
6. Yes, you need to get a shorter barbell or the one they pierced you with will break your teeth. They should tell you that at the piercing shop, though. I can't remember how long you have to wait.. two or three weeks, I believe.

I say if you really want it, go for it! I got mine done almost three years ago and will be going to get another piercing hopefully by the end of the year. Beware.. you'll want more after you have one done!

Ok.. Well i might get it after all, but still, how do i take care of it so it doesnt get infected?
