first I would like to know if there's anyone else with this disorder. ?
Had a friend in school that had it. It was never something we'd tease him about, but he gave us a good laugh every once and a while during class.
Pretty noticeable if you had him talking for more than a couple of sentences, or if he was nervous (ie. if the teacher called on him for something).
He would get a stutter and eye twitch, and the odd occasion blurt out a word that had nothing to do with the topic.
We knew something was different with him, but one day in class the teacher played a video about people with Tourrette's and we kind of put 2 and 2 together.

I always thought that Tourette's was a case if constantly swearing very loudly at random.
In my experience, nerves are a key factor when it comes to the severity of tics. When in a quiet area like a classroom, would they become more noticeable?
That's good that your teacher explained it to the class. Not enough of that is being done. Many will look at it as a disease rather than a disorder which is simply not true.
Most if not all of my long term friends will say they don't even notice it anymore. I must say though, I'll have to disagree on that![]()
He barely had any tics or twitches when we would hang out in his basement with only a few friends, at least from what I can remember. In class he was only noticeable when we were quietly working on questions or if he was singled out for whatever reason by the teacher.
Last time I was with him was a few years ago when we bumped into each other at a bar. Went back to his place after and hit the pipe a few times and he told me how it calmed his nerves a helped cool his Tourette's. I've never heard of any studies being done for it, but it was interesting to know that it was helping him.
I have a friend who has a facial tic. Its like he blinks really hard with his right eye and his mouth moves a bit with it as well, he has always just said its his nerves but I assume its a mild form or tourettes?
I was diagnosed with borderline Tourette's as a kid. I occasionally twitch, normally when it's cold, but otherwise I don't find it affects me that much.
