Touring/GT Racers pls help.

I race online offen, but find that once I have joined in that all assists have been banned in most races.

Is there anybody that can maybe tell me what their laptimes are on the ring, where I race the most, between all assists off and their prefered settings.

For practice and setup I go to A Spec and race the ring with my prefered Touring car, useing my settings I do a 6:07.600. With all assists off ABS on I can not get even close to that time.

? do you find the same or does some settings in the off position make you that much slower ?.
 
Basically, the only assist that will help you go faster in this game is Skid Recovery Force, all the others will slow you down. I have also heard that the physics are different online, so that may be a factor though.
 
If you try racing in practice mode with the track edge setting set to real and then maybe use racing medium tyres instead of racing soft then you should get an experience closer to racing online with racing softs. in practice there is a difference in grip on the track itself between the two track edge settings

does seem stupid how GT5 claims to be the real driving simulator yet online / offline is more realistic than the other? surely it should be the same through out?
 
If you are using a controller, assists will make you faster.
If you are using a wheel, assists will make you slower.
 
It doesn't matter what you use, they slow you down.

Thanks for quick respons. So they should be called, can't pass me options or dare qualify in front of me and I will use the "GENTLE" nudge trick.
 
ABS wins a lot of races, so baning any other assists is either to keep the wreckers out or is an ego thingy. It's a rather lame excuse that braking is broken, because accelerating is broken too if one considers the crappy DS3 in comparison with the pedals of a wheel.

TCS proves very helpful in powerful RWD cars and/or to preserve tyres. It doesn't need to make one slower, especially on bumpy tracks like Le Sarthe there's simply better traction which helps on these long straights.

SRF is on the other hand a bit too powerful, so I can see a point not allowing it.

IF assists make one slower there's absolutely no point in baning them (other than trying to keep the wreckers out wihch is debatable if it works or not).

I found it to be extremely fun and challenging not to mess up breaking, and it brings a lot more dynamic to the races. But, yeah, breaking is broken so ABS is not an assist but a neccessity ;-)
 
Yea for sure its "broken" driving without ABS is like ice I haven't met anyone that can go quickly with it off.

I race in a room every single night that is all ring no assist no bs room. It is dedicated racers no crashing or any of that. We do it to keep trash out, mostly people who are really looking to race will select SFR off in their options so that is one, if you come in and pass dirty or crash people your just gone no questions asked. We run a 6:30ish room, my fast touring cars can go around 6:20's maybe a touch lower on a good lap. Fast production cars, ie 06 GT, Ruf, M3, etc usually go around 6:40 and up. The fastest in a "normal" car I have seen in there is a ACR Viper running 6:12's and that guy is a beast. Add me on PSN if you'd like to join. KForceOH :)
