Just something strange I do not understand:
usually it always goes like this:
1.) FG to xxx
2.) Top Speed to minimum
3.) set gear ratios to (certain values for everygear)
4.) FG to xxx

In this tune, you only give a gear Ration for the 1st gear (Minimum, strangely enough), and then you say:
5)Gear ratios as necessary

1.) Why do you set gear ratios at the very end of the process (normally the last Setting is "FG";
2.) what do you mean by "5)Gear ratios as necessary"???

1.) Why do you set gear ratios at the very end of the process (normally the last Setting is "FG"; I have like 8 different methods of setting up transmissions. Each way works with certain cars, this one worked best with this car. In how you set up the trans can effect the handling of the car which is why I choose this method...it further inhanced what I was looking for to get out of the car.

2.) what do you mean by "5)Gear ratios as necessary"??? It means that at this step you can adjust the individual gears as you see fit. I personally just left them alone and didn't adjust them. Its up to you though, if you think they need to be adjusted, do so at this step.

I have put in many, many hours of testing these different transmission set up methods. Each process comes up with slightly different gear ratios than can be beneficial to certain cars. I thoroughly test each method when setting up my cars for these time trials then I go with the one that gives me the best lap times. Its a long process that I have to go through for each event, but it pays off in the end because I know I have the best available transmission for a given car.

Now, having said all that, let me say that I am in no way an expert nor do I claim to have all the answers, I just go with what works for me and what I find through all my testing. If you do not agree with my methods and think they are way off base, that's fine, consult an expert. :) I only post what works for me. Hope this answers your questions.

Hey Cargo, hows things? You must forgive my ignorance but I can't match your gears??? how are you getting numbers like 143 and 261kph?

Its not kph, its mph. Please go back and re-read the instructions using mph....everything is correct. I had this problem with another member and it was because he was using/assumed the settings were kph. Everything is done in mph and if you follow all the steps correctly, you should have no problems matching the numbers.

Copied straight from the tune.

Transmission
Max. Speed:
143 mph
1st Gear:
5.421
2nd Gear:
4.343
3rd Gear:
3.265
4th Gear:
2.565
5th Gear:
2.107
6th Gear:
1.808
Final Gear:
2.500
Special Instructions:
1)Max Speed to 261
2)FG to 2.500
3)Max Speed to 143
4)1st Gear to 5.421
5)Gear ratios as necessary

Great tune. The tail is super happy and sliding across corner is awesome. Just a question, wow do you reduce that happy tail a bit for more control ? Should I try increase the deceleration sensitivity and give more brake bias to the front than the rear? Thanks.

T hanks for the compliment. To tighten the car up, you can do any of the following:

1) Increase braking sensitivity
2) Decrease front and/or rear toe
3) Lower rear spring rate
4) Increase front dampers
5) Brake bias to 4/6 or 5/5

Any of these things will tighten up the car. I would try one thing at a time until you get the car to where you want it. Thanks for checking out my tunes.
