This Group 5 spec Toyota Celica was built to compete in the top-flight DRM championship in Germany. Toyota's German branch commission the well-known BMW outfit, Schnitzer to build the Celica in 1977. In the 2 years that the Celica raced in Europe, the car suffered a myriad of retirements but the car won a non-championship event at Zolder.
In 1979, the car was shipped to Japan where the Toyota backed TOM'S team ran the Celica in the Fuji Super Silhouette series. Just liked in Europe, the car only won a single race and retired of other races. The car was sold to the Trust team in 1981, here the car ended it competion life at.
This Celica is one of only a few Group 5 cars that raced both the German DRM and Japan's Super Silhouettes.
