Intended as a prestige saloon automobile comparable with world-class luxury cars and moving a step beyond the Crown Eight, the Century debuted in 1967 as a car with a totally new design. The Century was capable of tremendous power almost unimaginable from its Japanese styling and its naming, relating to the 100th anniversary of Sakichi Toyoda's birth and the Meiji Centennial. It achieved both luxury and high performance.

(1) 1967 (2) 2860mm (3) water-cooled V8 OHV 2981cc,(Reference: 4980/1890/1450mm/1800kg)

Powered by 150-horsepower aluminum alloy water-cooled V8 OHV engine with a displacement of 2981cc, the Century was available with the newly-developed "ToyoGlide" 3-speed automatic transmission together with 3- or 4-speed manual transmission. The air suspension ensured an unprecedentedly quiet and smooth ride.

But that was the first model of the Toyota Century...

Personaly, I like the leather seat better than the cloth on these kind of cars.

I saw the title and the first thing that came to mind was "I thought Toyota was on a kick to go hybrid on all their cars". I really wasn't expecting it to be an older car (:

What a beast!

Yes.. They rated it at 280hp but it probably put out more since the agreement thing. This car was made to be a limo.

And I've read in S2000 discussions on other sites that Japanese manufacturers under rate the HP on their cars for insurance reasons. The 2004 S2000 is rated at 240HP according to Honda, but actually puts out more in the neighborhood of 267HP.

Go figure, under rating cars. Hello, Mazda, you need to take lessons here.

Doesn't Japan have a 300hp restriction on all road cars? That would explain the low power from such a massive engine.

btw, how much does one cost?

This is funny, but it's actually fairly expected from a boy-racer like yourself.

- Lexus GS430
- Lexus GX470
- Lexus LS430
- Lexus LX470
- Lexus SC430
- Toyota 4Runner
- Toyota Land Cruiser
- Toyota Sequoia
- Toyota Tundra

Heard of any of those cars? They've all got Toyota-made V8s. Some are the most popular car in their class. Your favourite rapper probably drives a Lexus SC430.

Toyota's two V8 units are a 285-cubic-inch 4.7L V8 (GX470, LX470, 4Runner, Land Cruiser, Sequoia, Tundra) and a 262-cubic-inch 4.3L V8 (GS430, LS430, SC430).

Who cares about the engine, the looks on this car is awesome. especially from the rear and the version with regular sidemirrors.

So classy.

I want to know where you read that, because i truly don't believe it. The 99-03's had a hard time getting to 240, it's not .2l that'll give them 27 more horses.

Toyota's two V8 units are a 285-cubic-inch 4.7L V8 (GX470, LX470, 4Runner, Land Cruiser, Sequoia, Tundra) and a 262-cubic-inch 4.3L V8 (GS430, LS430, SC430).

I said i meant V8s in sedans. Also someone already cleared me up on another forum that the GS430 had a V8 which i didnt know, so i found out that the SC430 and LS430 had a v8. The ress u mention are SUV and trucks. Beside SUV and trucks, i guess its because i never look into lexus.. anyways thanks for correcting me I dont mind being wrong because i am learning every day right.. cuz im just a "boy-racer" but there is no need for that kind of rudeness.

"but it's actually fairly expected from a boy-racer like yourself." thanks for being so nice..

Oh yeah i copy and paste the whole thing from the other forum so yeah i was already corrected that Lexus has 3 sedans with v8 and i just copy and paste all my info onto here and forgotten to change the V8 thing, but seriously i will admit when i posted that i didnt think of lexus, all i thought of was Toyota. Anyways once again thanks for the correction M5 and um.. thanks

never did understand why you'd put a V12 in a car like mercedes and then only give it 250 - 300hp? So what you got goverment limits and electronic restricters. What's the point

Which toyota sedan's has a V8? there is lexus where all 430 are 4.3L V8 470 are 4.7L V8. I meant toyota sedans even though i may not have stated that i mean sedans sorry for the inconveince :banghead: anyways not tundra or other suv/trucks.

I understand what you are trying to say.. Toyota has made plenty of V8s for sedans under the Lexus namebrand which when i stated that i didnt know toyota made a v8 i meant a v8 for sedans and i forgotten all about lexus when i stated that, i guess i didnt think. Under the Toyota brand not Lexus which i know are the same thing but anyways under the Toyota brand in the USA, they dont have any sedans, because most of their sedan is under Lexus brand. I UNDERSTAND THAT TOYOTA HAVE MADE V8S FOR TRUCKS/SUV/SEDANS. When i said that i didnt know of any V8 from toyota i meant v8 in sedans like the Century. As far as USA goes there is no sedan under Toyota brandname.. i know Lexus is a luxury verison of Toyota and doesnt exist anywhere else. At the moment i stated that I didnt know of any Toyota sedan that had a V8 i forgotten all about Lexus, but now i remember and i admit that there are alot of lexus sedans with v8.

as stated 430 = 4.3L V8 470=4.7L V8 and so on.

Acura and Infiniti are both confined to North America.
