Toyota got what they wanted, a Championship point. Of course they could have had 2 points had Salo not been so anxious to get around Mark Webber. But a good result nonetheless.
I hope Toyota does a good job this year.

Honda has to be worried :nervous: :D

Well, BAR didn't help their cause by having Villeneuve's rear wing fall off.

Was Fishichella taken out in the first corner nonsense?

Sato ran well for a while but fell out.

With Sauber and Renault taken out I don't think this was terribly representative - I mean, a Jaguar finished fourth for crying out loud!

Toyota certainly presented well though and they'd be rapt to get a point so early - I can't believe Minardi and Webber got two points!!!! I'm rapt!!

It's always great to see one of the "minnow teams" (as Phil once called them) doing well. I'm sure this will also mean much better sponsorship if they can keep it up!

I'm not totally sure about this but didn't BAR run Honda their first year, and NOT one championship point for the year  I know that the Austrailian GP is not how all the races go, but as they say, the sun shines on a dogs BUTT every once in a while: i.e. Jaguar finshed fourth.

No - BAR ran the Supertec engines (customer Renaults) the first year they ran - the same motor Williams used that year. It was a bit of a dog.

That's right, I forgot. "Briatore's engine"
Still, Toyota get on with in the first race. I think Honda would have to be disappointed with BAR - not so much with Jordan, they get results every once in a while, but BAR is just above Jaguar. I think JV will be somewhere else at the end of the year.

Well, the Honda engine's meant to be pretty disappointing, but the Jordans did look a LOT more effective than the BARs.

I really hope he goes somewhere decent, like Renault - problem is, there are so many good young guys around at the moment there may not be a spot for him.

Toyota getting a point isn't that good: they were beaten for pace by the Minardi!

How do you figure that? The Toyota's qualified 14th-15th, Webber 18th.

That said, I don't know how Webber got in front of Salo - but if memory serves Salo got severely held up at the start.

That Minardi looks a tidy little car in Webber's hands though.

With mika salo on board I get they get a few more points this year, but this one was lucky but hey take em as you can.
