Name to be simplified to Toyota GR Supra GT500 '21 if it ever gets added to the game.
This was the start of the dominance of the GR Supra in GT500 competition, especially with the au TOM'S team and their ace driver.
As soon as the Toyota GR Supra's GT500 model was finalized and ready for competition, it replaced the outgoing Lexus LC 500 GT500 which won the 2017 and 2019 seasons, thus using a Toyota model for the first time in nearly 15 years, when Lexus took over the brand in GT500 competition, starting with the SC 430, which then followed with the RC F, then the LC 500.
It was built to the series' "Class One" regulations which were almost in line with DTM cars, featuring extreme amounts of downforce to the point where it can almost be considered a "prototype disguised as a GT or silhouette car", and is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-litre inline-4 producing 650 horsepower as per GT500 regulations with a minimum weight of 1,020kg.
The GR Supra GT500 was ready for prime time when it first entered competition in 2021, but later made a massive impact when the #36 au TOM'S car driven by Sho Tsuboi and Yuhi Sekiguchi won the teams and drivers' championship that year.
The au TOM'S team would miss out the following year, but would ultimately repeat their successes in 2023, 2024 and 2025 with Tsuboi being the first driver in Super GT history to win three seasons in a row, thus earning both the team and its ace driver a fearsome reputation, and its dominance over these years have turned the GR Supra GT500 into an unstoppable powerhouse.
