Got a source article?

I'm doubting it will see the light of day, and if it does I am sure they will need to develop a new platform.

Similar weight to a 350Z or 370Z and that is not even 4WD, or with electric motors/battery.
So it's not too bad really.

Still pretty heavy for something MX5-sized, but I can see where all the weight has gone with that drivetrain and powertrain.

Nicely proportioned but a bit chuffin' ugly.

One article said like I mentioned " considers production", another said no chance but Toyota would learn lessons from this car to apply to their other models.
Maybe a 4wd hybrid version of the new Celica?

Well they are making the FT-86 so maybe they're looking to recover some of the edge the brand once had, taking that into consideration I don't think it'd be that crazy to see this in the market.

Judging by the interior it's not so much 'based on the MR-2 platform' as 'basically an MR-2'.

Also appears to have the gearbox out of the GS. Hmmmmm.

MR2 platform with 1300lbs of extra weight, good luck. I like the look of the car as it has a bit of a spyker look to it but can't find myself caring about it at all.

The 246bhp 3.5 V6 mid mounted engine powers the rear wheels and the 49bhp electric powers the fronts.
Seems like just an exercise, as if it was designed as a sports car it would have at least an extra 50bhp from that V6.
