Toyota Minolta Engine Overhaul at 4,355 Miles

Been running the Minolta in B-Spec Dream Car about 7 or 8 times sofar. Have put 4,355 miles on it. It was at 1040HP, now after the oil change it rang up at 1031HP. Basically the car has earned 6.5 million on Dream Car and about another million or so in other races. Gotta spend about 500k to overhaul the engine. Two part question:

For GT5 is that realistic for a car of that caliber to need an overhaul after 4300 miles?

Is it a porportionate benefit to have the car earn 7.5 million and now require a 500k overhaul?

What are your thoughts?

I'm thinking for what GT5 makes you go through to grind for cars the answer is NO to both.
 
If you don't want to buy anything else just do it. It won't take too long to earn the money back again. Regular Oil changes are more important for maintaining HP though.
 
Point 1: You don't need to overhaul it yet.
Point 2: Most real life race teams overhaul their engines for every race.
Point 3: It's just a game and it's not very hard. You don't need to be sad. :(
 
In real life that car would have seen an overhaul many times over by the time it hit 4300 miles. I guess I need to drive my Toyota more, I dont' have anywhere near that HP.
 
Wait, is your minolta tuned at all? Because mine has only 951hp (completely untuned).

If not, does engine hp increase with engine milage?
 
In real life they don't just change the oil - the overhaul the entire engine. After every race.

You're right. It's not time for it yet. When it starts losing races is the time.

Not sad. Just not happy with the Credit system in place.

Yeah, I did some tuning to it. Max IS 1040.
 
When races start getting close, or the car starts losing, then you should overhaul, there's simply no advantage to doing it now besides peace of mind and "taking care" of your virtual car
 
my minolta have all the upgrades and 1055hp.:)
 
Personally I think this is totally realistic, because these have been 4000 miles of hard racing, not 4000 miles of the daily drive, so with that it is reasonable to need an engine overhaul at the moment.
 
There are threads on the subject, but I think overhauls start to make a difference after around 3000-4000 miles. Obviously the more power the car has, the more difference you will see, but yeah perhaps only one to worry about when the power really starts to drop off.

And yeah perhaps not the place to complain, but not overly realistic how an LM car needs an overhaul at the same mileage as a VW Golf (instead of after almost every race) but never mind :)
