I rareley if ever have used these cars in GT5 ( or most any GT game) I was wondering after picking up one of them the other day in the used store is the physics on this car acurate to what they would be in real life? What do you think about this car and where it stacks up????

IMO it's very accurate to real life. It's even better post 2.0.

In real life the 1996 (don't quote me on the year) is one of the best cars for feeling the limit. It will let you know long before you reach the cars breaking point how much farther you can push it. The "seat of the pants" feel is beyond anything I've driven.

really that is interesting thanks for the feedback any one else wanna chime in ?

The gts is turbocharged and heavier and the g-limited can be supercharged and is lighter (but less powerful). I have the gts ballasted to 45-55, it handles nicely. I haven't tried the MR-S.

The MR2-Spyder and MR-S are amazing ('99 and '02 6MT). My real life car <3

They top out at 488 pp. I keep mine at 450. at full weight reduction the car sits around 850 kilo's, so at 450 pp it is a little underpowered. But i've won my share of races with it, it handles amazing.

Car handles perfect with the mr layout, so don't ballast it.

While youre at it, pick up the Superautobacs GT300 MR-S. they are a great pair (450 and 550 pp)

The first gen MR2 (AW11) is fairly accurate. However, the in-game grip provided with comfort soft tires is a little low compared to the one I have parked in the driveway. My personal MR2 has a set of these bolted on right now, and they're equivalent to sport hard compound in the game. The gear ratios are 100% accurate, but the weight and power are for the JDM model. Limiting the power works just fine for conforming the stats to your market. Because it's such a small adjustment, it hardly messes with the power curve. Add the proper weight, and leave it centered. The reason the Japanese model was lighter because of body weight, so the heavier model still has the same distribution.

Naturally it isn't quite as fun to drive in GT5. The first gen is praised as the best MR2 in terms of driving feel because of its direct steering (no power assist) and lack of driving aids, so if you have an AW11 in real life it might be a bit of a let down.

I agree. We also have a '00 MR2 in real life, and I have 4 in my garage in the game, including the Superautobacs. My fettled 179bhp '99 Spyder walloped the opposition in the Japanese 90's challenge in seasonal,so much so that next time I'm just going to try my totally standard one, just to make it more of a race.

I drove a 91 MR2 NA all the way through high school and first two years of college before selling it and trading up to an F150. Worst mistake selling that car. I also attended four Porsche Club Southeast region drivers ed events with the car, and was capable of keeping up with, and overtaking boxster s's through the twisties. The car in GT5 is way to quick to lose the rear end. The car does not oversteer like that unless you do something stupid like lift mid-corner or give too much steering input. Not really a good interpretation in the game, however I have yet to drive this car in the new physics model. In real life the car was excellent, my car was bone stock except for some sticky tires an ACT clutch and modified air intake system. With aftermarket suspension and some better brakes the car is capable of being a giant killer on the track. Oh yeah, in addition, I logged over 150,000 miles in that car so take it for what its worth. Great car in real life get one if you are on a budget. GT5: way too loose without modifications. And I echo what was said earlier about the steering being excellent, lots of communication between you and the road. P.S. this is a 2nd gen MR2 like the 96' or whatever model in the game. Thanks for interest, it's always good to see someone discovering some of these real performance bargains that most people never think twice about. In case you can't tell, I loved that car.

I'm not sure the Altimax HP are equivalent to Sports Hard in GT.

Currently on my car I have these tires installed, and I've driven on them at a few trackdays here. From what I can feel and compared to GT5, the grip level is quite similar to those offered by the Comfort Softs. 👍

I had a 1994 mr2 and what comes across most from GT5 is lack of any sensation of speed rather than handling. Ok, they aren't the fastest car but you just can't replicate the roar from behind you and the fact they were pretty quick, and doing 120+ down a bumpy road did get quite frightening. I fear nothing in GT5.

I would actually buy another one but a family has got in the way!

I would never say any of the GT4 carryovers (standard) cars have great physics, because they're noticeably worse to me.
But they're not bad, just not nearly as good as premium cars physics.

They use the same physics model - the only thing that makes a "standard" a "standard" is the level of graphical detail.

It feels very good.

Although i think i will stick to using the better series of MR cars, from Honda
