Anyone remember the TrailBlazer front suspension collapse recalls?
Anyone remember the Escape when it was first released?
I believe you, but no. As far as recent Ford recalls go, it was the Focus that suffered from a page long list of recalls.

In fact, almost any all-new or significantly-new car has it's fair share of recalls. Anyone who has owned a first-model-year car knows this.
Agreed. And not just on the first year models.

You almost expect GM or Ford to have Recalls, because (Sadly) they have in the past.

Almost expect? I do expect GM and Ford to have recalls, aswell as Toyota, lexus and all of them. These things happen it's rare all new products come out and they are flawless.

Even the ever so fantastic Zeta mobiles has had a couple recalls.

Toyota hasn't

Of course they have.

Again, I agree with this. Last two new cars I bought, Honda and a Nissan, both had recalls. If I bought a Toyota today and received a recall notice down the road, it won't surprise me any.
Of course they have.
Jim probably meant the reputation regarding recalls. If not, I don't know what he's talking about either. Toyota had pretty good sized recalls in the past.

Yes, even Toyotas and Lexuses, with one or two exceptions (ironically, the ES 250 was one). But some are fairly minor things like loose interior trim clips, fussy seat belts, and clogged valve stems aren't exactly big-deal news.

Camshafts that fail are a big effing deal, though. It's funny how my customers are quite reasonable and stoic about rarely-seen expensive failures; yet some go ape over the insignificant crap that has no bearing on the safety, performance, and even appearance of the car.

In any case, better to catch a recall or potential problem now, rather than later...

...I'm still left wondering if they will ever fix the brake performance issues...

Only when they have the optional brakes that come with the towing package. Standard equipment on the Tundra doesn't perform too well, and they say that if you tow anything in excess of 1000lbs, they recommend that your trailer have trailer brakes. By comparison on similarly sized and equipped GM models, they aren't recommended until you go upwards of 2000lbs.
