Toyota Soarer RM Inspiration

Hey all. I've recently been trying to compile photos of the real-life race cars which inspired the racing modifications in GT2. Most of these can be worked out or found with varying degrees of difficulty, but I haven't got a clue where the inspiration for the Toyota Soarer's RM came from. It seems to intricate for it not to be based on something. Do any of you guys know which car inspired the RM?

No idea, but i'm also interested, as I'm currently remodeling and making new cars for an eventual time when we'll be able to mod GT2.

I'm beginning to think it may have been a fantasy livery. Either that or a very obscure touring car or possibly cup car. Other than that I don't see a reason to put the Soarer griffin emblem on the side.

Geraghini's thread has been very helpful in finding real life counterparts indeed. I eventually plan to make a site with comparison photos for the cars with their real life counterparts, but need to get a good few more photos before I start that.
