Originally an EVO update to the highly-successful GR010 Hybrid, this formidable Hypercar achieved considerable success in its debut.

The Toyota GR010 Hybrid was without a doubt one of the pioneering cars of the Le Mans Hypercar era and also one of the most successful, earning up to 20 wins in its career, including two Le Mans victories in 2021 and 2022.

However, as more competition arrived in the later years, and that the GR010 Hybrid was already showing its age, Toyota have decided to go back to the drawing board and create an evolution to the outgoing model.

The end result is the TR010 Hybrid, named as such, given that GR (Gazoo Racing) has become its own standalone brand following the unveiling of the GR GT Prototype in late 2025, with the racing team being rebranded to Toyota Racing, and it was more than just a name change; the car's design and aerodynamics were overhauled to the point where it can be considered the de-facto successor to the GR010 Hybrid.

While the change in design was mostly to improve aerodynamic efficiency and to be more in line with Toyota's modern design language, the internals and running gear are almost identical to the previous car, being powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.5-litre V6 engine with a front-mounted electric motor, producing roughly the same horsepower and torque output at the capped 670hp (500kW).

When it made its debut in the 2026 season, the TR010 immediately turned heads when it won its debut race at the 6 Hours of Imola, and later put Toyota back on the top spots of endurance racing as it won the 2026 24 Hours of Le Mans, with Kamui Kobayashi, Nyck de Vries and Mike Conway of the #7 car winning in spectacular fashion, thus leading to Toyota's sixth Le Mans victory to date.

Its Le Mans victory could also be considered a rematch of Toyota's battle with BMW during the 1999 outing of Le Mans as well, and may also even be the motorsport equivalent of the New York Knicks against the San Antonio Spurs. It may also even be redemption for the heartbreak the TS050 - Hybrid faced a decade prior.
