Maybe done before, but I think there ought to be a place to discuss All toyota V8s and their "carrying cases".

The reason I started this thread is http://www.autabuy.com/Vehicles/Details.cfm?VID=50008 (ok, I'm bad at links.. can a mod edit it to say "This"?)

Not too special, but it's powered by a Toyota Hemi. And best of all, it's carbureted!



So.. Any SC400s, Hopped up landcruisers, etc. that's Toyota V8 powered is game.

Ready? Go!

Seriously though, I didn't even know Toyota did V8s. That's a very nice hot rod though - V8 burble and Toyota reliability. Cool!

I Googled it to try and learn something more, but "Toyota V8" just gave me stuff about the F1 car.

Edit: Bit more digging, so they had V8s in Landcrusiers :dunce: And I never noticed.
 
THey spent over 400 million in development of the 4.0 in the SC400 and LS400 in the early 90s. They still use it, If I'm not mistaken. maybe pupik could clear some of this up for us.
 
That Toyota Hemi is wicked High Test, love the fact it's carb-fed too, I'll bet the noise it makes is something else.

The technical name for the Toyota/Lexus 4.0 litre quad cam V8 is the 1UZFE in case anyone cares.
I think that in the SC430 and the GS430 an updated version of the 1UZFE was used, called the 3UZFE, displacing 4.3 litres. It's not used any more though as far as I know.

There are a whole lot of interesting cars with the V8 in them, at the drags I have seen an MX5 with one, a Toyota Corolla SR Coupe with one and from what I've heard there is a JZA70 Supra with a turboed 1UZFE in it campaigning in the Pro Import Series.

The Bullet Roadster is an Australian built sportscar, looks like an MX5 but it's built under the Bullet name. They use Toyota V8s to propel these and the SS Roadster has a supercharged V8 with 430hp! In something that weighs about 1100kgs.....
 
I know lots of toyota mini truckers drop Tundra V8's into their Tacomas...just like S-10 owners drop V8's into their trucks. Other then that I can't think of any.
 
:eek: 1100kgs.. 430bhp... Not right. I'd say that the 1UZFE was 400 million dollars well spent on Toyota's part.

The Hemi was normally in the Century. I saw one of them in New York in March. It looked pretty.. uh.. executivy. (I'd never seen one before)

I,ve seen better like any of the modem Ferrari V8's, or the old Rover V8 which were used in many of the old TVR's.

Errr, Toyota isn't going to make a new Supra, it's been replaced with the new Toyota FJ Concept and probably the Volta.
 
I've been thinking about buying a Toyota Soarer (SC400) as a tow car for my Civic.

Petrol prices going up and I sure as hell wont drive a V8 like a grandma... :guilty:
