Track dries too quickly!

Sorry if this has been mentioned elsewhere but i'm just wondering if anyone else thinks the tracks dry too quickly from fully wet (100%) to completely dry (0%)?
I was racing a friend last night around the Apricot Hill Raceway and on the lap it started to rain it went from 0% to 100& - fair enough, must have been a big downpour. I limped to the pits and put on heavy wets. About 2 laps later the rain stopped and the track began to dry immediately and I mean, instantly. In the spaces of about 4 corners the track went from 100% wet to 0% wet. Because I was still on the wet tyres I could hardly make it back to the pits as the car was a total handful.

Time progression was at 1 (as in realtime) and weather changeability was set to 30 (half way on the slider).

Can anyone help or is this just how it is?

Thanks
Dave

That's actually not far off. Track surfaces on even a cloudy day are very hot during the spring and summer. 70F ambient temp may be so...but the track can easily get up over 130F. Between evaporation and cars constantly over the racing line, most tracks dry pretty quick when it stops raining. At least the groove will. A lot of tracks have graded surfaces that are meant to dispell water to the track edges.

So, not completely inaccurate. Would be nice if you could see the evap mist and the groove dry out before the rest of the track, but I wouldn't say it is way off in a timing sense. Tracks can more or less get a dry racing line going in a matter of minutes after rain stops. Absolutely.

Once any standing water clears, tracks tend to dry really quickly.

What? It's completely far off. The track went from 100% wet to completely dry in the space of about 4 corners. That is so far off reality it's not even funny.
I wouldn't give two toots about seeing mist evaporate but yes I'd love to at least see a dry line appear.
So I guess this is just how it is?

Turn down the weather changeability. 1 is what's "realistic," and 30 is 30 times faster.

Yep. Having the changeability on anywhere between 1 and 10 should be sufficient if you are after realistic weather as such. Obviously a higher value would be better for a track in a country where the weather is much more variable (such as the Red Bull Ring or Spa)

That's a bit of a rapid change in tone. Went from being unsure and asking guidance to being completely 100% sure in the space of, lets just say, four corners.

Sorry if it was seen as a change in tone but I was just shocked that someone thought that kind of change in weather was realistic. No harm was meant I promise. It was the changeability slider that was the problem so thanks to those of you who mentioned that - I knew I must have been doing something wrong.

If you put the value to the max, it will surely get wet pretty fast, i think 60 times faster than real, and it then dries up 60 times faster than real.
If yu put the number to 1, that's the realistic setting, it will dry up pretty naturally.
On hot tracks faster than on cold ones.

I have raced from 100% down to 0%

It took a few laps for me.

Apricot Hill must be somewhere in australia in summer for it to dry in 4 corners.
