Track Talk

I am personally not terribly fond of the Test Course. Especially to race on Twenty laps (Like the Wind) is a long time to spend there and the Rubber Band trick would slow the car down to much. The Super Speedway is pretty boring too.
Complex string is a great track, it will test your car control, and the drivability of the car you chose.
My fave testing track is Midfield though. In less than a minute and a half you can find out if the car is set up to your liking.

Testing on midfield often makes for oversteering monsters on other circuits. Apricot Hill is probably the best test-course... or GVS.

Yeah I reackon Grand Valley Speedway is the best Test Track.

Test Course even though it has the name..it's just tests your speed!

Complex String is a great testing track as well.........I find it a tad boring.....no cool scenery!

I hate the test course, a few HP mods and a racing tranny on a competitive car and you've got a cakewalk win. No skill is required, just time. There's no chance for a spin out, no tight corners, nothing of interest. Blah! I stay off this as much as possible...

As for my fave track to test suspension/tranny settings, I probably like Deep Forest the most.

I use Apricot Hill - it has pretty much everything in it. Deep Forest isn't quick enough, and doesn't have any huge braking zones and really tight corners.

Snoop, Giles,
You guys are probably right, may revise my thoughts on the perfect place for testing. Apricot Hill is a good course. Midfield has taught me a lot about braking. If you brake too soon you can't carry speed thru the corners. If you brake too late, you get a wheel in the dirt and lose 1.5 sec on your laptime.

Anyway, I'll give Apricot Hill a shot. Please don't ask me to learn to love Complex String though.. Great track but way too long and too many blind turns. That may be why there are no races on it.

I tend to test new cars at Apricot Hill as there is a good mix of constant sweepers (which are great for testing tyre wear), heavy braking, plus a couple of good speed rapid changes of direction, so it's a good place to find out understeer and dodgy stability.

I dearly love Deep Forest, though - not a good place to take an oversteering car though!

Personally I hate the Test Track; it's just so boring! The Super Speedway isn't so bad, especially if your car is pretty evenly matched with the AI cars. My favourite track has to be Monaco/Cote d'Azur, because you never get a chance to rest, and have to be very accurate with that car to stop yourself banging against all the walls.

My favourite track for testing cars would probably be Laguna Seca, 'cause it has a range of slow and fast corners, as well as long straights. Complex String is also pretty good, but it's just a bit too long as far as I'm concerned, so I spend more time learning the course than I do actually testing the car to its limits.

Fair point. It could do with a bit more speed in it though. But turns three and four will show you your car's stability and balance pretty sharpish. I think it may invoke a tendency to oversteer in a car though.
