Tractor Trouble

I have a 20hp 46" Scotts john deer ride on. The last time I mowed the lawn, the tractor sputtered a bunch of times but I finished the lawn and all was good. But today I go to mow the lawn and I noticed it was slow to start up. I get like 1/4 done with the lawn and the sputtering starts. Its get horrifically bad and the tractor stalls. I started it back up playing with the choke but I couldn't keep it running and it stalled again. I checked the fuel and oil but those were fine. Can anybody help me here? Could I have a blockage in the fuel line? The tractor was tuned up last spring. I also really need to get the lawn-mowed cause its high as hell and winter is quickly coming.

It could have something in the fuel line. That kind of sounds like it's starving for fuel, especially if it sputters when there is a load on it. See if you can find the filter and check it out.

Another possibility is weak spark. Check the leads from the plug to the coil, and maybe pull the spark plug and see how it looks.

I did check the filter, the filter case is clear. I will take the spark plugs out and check them. I think it could have been cause by a leaft that got in my gas can a long time ago and broke up and i think bits of the leaf got into the tractor tank when i filled it and then managed to get inside the lines.

I got over an acre of land. Unless you want me to call you so you can push mow it, i won't pay you though.
 
Check the distributor for moisture, then check the points, plugs, wires and rotor. The trouble you are describing sounds like an electrical problem. If all turns up well, it could be a bad signal generator, or coil.

I once had a similar problem with my push mower. It turned out the damn thing had too much grass jammed up under the blades and the motor just wouldn't cut.

This is even with the blade disgauged. but solid, ill check thos areas later
