I want to start off by saying, that I have only been on GTPlanet for a short while and most of what I have experienced has been superb.

But there have been a couple of things that have annoyed me slightly, these things are based around trading. As per forum rules I will not name anyone.

The first thing that has ticked me off a bit is when a trade is agreed to take place on a set date a few days in advance why do some people not send or accept the friend request. I have had this happen a couple times already, now i know it is not a massive problem. But surely basic respect would dictate that if you can't make it to the PS3 to do what's necessary, you should try and let the other person know so they can proceed with other stuff.

I know this sounds a bit like a rant so to balance it out, I will send out massive praise to GTPlanet and it's members in general.

Most of what i have experienced so far has been exeptional, people have been very helpful, very courteous and generous.

What good or bad experiences have you had using GTPlanet.

Just be as clear as you can be, and tell the trader that you want to hear when something isn't working out as planned. Communication is vital in trading. Keep a schedule in your primary thread, so people knows what to expect from you too.

And as said, check reputation thread for people's status. (Doesn't always mean something)
But another tip, judge the person before you deal with him/her.
Post count, previous trades etc etc.

And yes, it can happen that you get scammed, in the thousands of trades I did, it happened twice. One apologized for it, the other ran away :D

Good luck with your trading mate!

Given the generally low level of etiquette and mutual respect among many people on the internet, it's a miracle that most trades on GTPlanet/GT5 actually go down as planned and the fact that one bad apple out of thousands stands out, is a testament to the quality of people participating here. I have only conducted a few trades and they went fine.

Now you know why PD calls it "Gifting", not trading. ;)

I know that doesn't help you, but the system was never meant to be used for trading, so you have to do the leg work and make sure of the facts before trading. As posted above, the Trader's Reputation thread, searching for their forum name, and initial/ongoing communication is vital to a successful trade. And even after doing all of that, sometimes, $hit still happens. :)

My experience has been good so far and since I always backup my game save before sending, I'll never get scammed out of anything other than 1 "Trade Day", if the other person does not follow through on their commitment.

Good luck with your future trades. 👍

Just to clarify from my op, I haven't been scammed during a trade.

I had organised a trade through forum posts and either never received a friend request or the request I sent was not confirmed. Bearing in mind the trade was several days away at the time of agreement.

But I do agree that it is amazing that the quality of the community here on GTPlanet is so good that the bad deals are the exceptions.

Understood. Some people change their minds and given the anonymity that the internet provides, I guess some don't feel that they need to inform you of their latest decision. ;)

As long as you are sure that you sent the FR request to a valid PSN (you'll see the pending request in your Friend's List all the way to the right on the PS3 main page after signing in), then it appears that someone either got what they wanted somewhere else or changed their mind and didn't inform you.

Did you try sending a Private Message here at the forum?

However, as you say, thankfully, these instances are the exceptions, not the rules of trading on GTP. ;)
