Does there really need to be a 4th one? Was there some major plot hole left after the 3rd(or the 1st for that matter) that I just missed?

Regardless of my opinions it appears to be happening so get ready for more explosions and dull storylines.

Another installment of the "Transformers" franchise is officially on the way, whether Shia LaBeouf wants to be a part of it or not.

The actor, who has starred in the series since 2007, said while doing press for the third film, 2011's "Transformers: Dark of the Moon," that he wasn't interested in battling the 'bots again. (His co-star Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, on the other hand, has been game to come back.)

Paramount announced the fourth installment on Monday, confirming that filmmaker Michael Bay will be back in the director's chair.

Once Bay is done with "Pain and Gain," a movie about a group of bodybuilders who go on a kidnapping, extortion and murder excursion in Florida, he'll get to work on the fourth "Transformers."

The statement didn't mention which actors will be part of the next installment, but we already have a release date: June 29, 2014. Are you excited?

Will surely be in smell-o-vision or whatever the latest movie fad is in 2014 as well.

Ugh, I thought that 3 was supposed to be the last? Talk about milking something.

They have to, I think introduce Unicron in some fashion. If they do that, then I think they can wrap this up.

That's a good surprise for me. I can deal with the plot and all of the other trash, just because I love transformers.

This. More Rosie isn't bad either. 👍

4th is here to plug up those holes.

That isn't how Michael Bay works, he will simply make the plot holes into canyons.

I just hope he doesn't spend half the film trying to develop a story that isn't there, just get to the fighting transformers!!!

Well, if it's as entertaining as the 1st and 3rd, I don't see too much of a problem. That said, I'd be way more interested if it were to take place in the war between the bots on their planet. Though I'd imagine the budget would be too high, as everything would have to be CGI.

The aticle I saw seemed to indicate that it was going to be another reboot. Doesn't sound like they plan on having the human characters returning, but its pretty early so I guess we'll see.

Because however much money the first 3 films made, there's always more people willing to watch a 4th, and therefore keep milking the series.

3 was never supposed to be the last it was just supposed to be the last michal bay directed he wanted to go do a smaller project well they threw some serious figures at him interms of money wich is why he is back hey i would do the same thing the first and 3rd were fine the second one was the only bad one

I was hoping to read that they were giving the axe to M. Bay and re-doing the whole franchise properly.

A boy can dream.

There is a good film buried somewhere in DARK OF THE MOON. The idea that the Transformers crashed on the moon sixty years ago and that the space race was a pretext to make contact was a very good idea. And with a few tweaks, there is a decent film hidden in REVENGE OF THE FALLEN.

The problem with the films is that audiences do not want to see Shia LaBeouf trying to deal with his inability to tell his girlfriend that he loves her. That is not compelling cinema. And yet, the studios think it is endearing.

As I recall, it was only Transformers 2 that got completely side-tracked by the horrible love story(aswell as the many awful jokes).
The 3rd movie is all about the action, and it delivers. I really don't see how anyone could write a half decent story about robot transforming into cars.

This^
Would personally like to see Bumblebee as a VW bug aswell... like it always should have been.

Pfft, hearing the voice of Optimus Prime is reason enough for a 4th movie.

This 👍

Last movie was a disgrace... :yuck: Why they can't do the films properly??? :dunce:

They are primarily action movies, the plot isn't meant to be the thing that grabs you, or the acting its the transformers smashing the 🤬 out of each other.
The plot obviously has to at least make some sense and the acting has to be passable but they are not the vital characteristics of the film.
Look at the expendables, I had absolutely no idea what was going on, I was just looking forward to Steve Austin beating the crap out of stallone.
That's what these films are about, and as long as they keep delivering the punches why shouldn't they keep going?

As for the 4th one depending on the trailer and what not I might make a trip to the cinema. I have to say the 3rd was the best 3D movie I have seen (I didn't see avatar) But i do agree that the series should end with the 4th film, lets hope they make it good enough to give transformers a proper send off!

I'm just glad Shia and Michael Bay won't be a part of it, this time. I think Transformers could end up being a really awesome live action series...if done right. Hopefully Spielberg will take the lead on this next 3 and turn them into something good.
