Can't believe this doesn't have its own thread yet.

A live-action TransFormers movie is coming out July 4, 2007.
This is the Web site which has the teaser trailer:
http://www.transformersmovie.com/

I only see one problem with this movie: Michael Bay is directing it.

WHY, GOD, WHY?! :(

Before he can do that I will defend myself with a screenshot of the results from a "Search This Forum" search for Transformers in the Movies & TV forum.

 I seemed to remember a thread on this movie as well. And I remember bashing the hell out of Michael Bay. :D I can't stand his work.

I quite like some Micheal Bay stuff, "Bad Boys" was good and so was "The Rock", But I hated all his other stuff, :D so who knows it may be pants or it may be great, never can tell till you watch a film. The teaser looked ok to me.

I actually remember posting in 2 different threads for the upcoming transformers movie...here:

and here:

Although in FK's defense, they were both in different category's, and neither were in the proper category of Movies and TV. :indiff:

I'm not so sure about this movie, the Transformers arrived on Earth thousands, if not millions, of years before mankind existed. I don't know what they're doing with this Mars rover thing, but already this movie is raising flags to me.

Michael Bay isn't that bad.

See, you guys are missing half the picture. It's true that Michael Bay has directed a few good films here and there. Some people like his stuff, some people don't.

What people don't realize is that all of his good films had one other thing in common.. they were all produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. Who is off working on Pirates of the Caribbean at the moment.

If you look at the track record of the films that these two men have been involved in, you'll find that the "good" factor comes from Bruckheimer.. not from Bay. That, without Bruckheimer, Bay is nothing. In fact, he's worse than nothing... he flat-out SUCKS.

Bear in mind that, in addition to the somewhat lackluster director, it's also being written by the same amazing talent that brought you The Core and Catwoman.

Basically, they gathered together the absolute worst in Hollywood to make this movie. And it's going to totally suck as a result. Sure, it'll look pretty, but the story is going to be unrecognizable, the writing will be schlock, and the acting will be sub-par across the board.

Ignore this film.. it's nothing but an experiment to show Hollywood that fans want a real Transformers movie. And we'll have to wait at least five years before we get one.

Well i had high hopes for this and as a big transformers fan this is already starting to annoy me. Im no rocket scientist but by changing how the start of a classic tv show happens is a pretty big no no and im dreading to see what else in the story line he has changed. I wasnt expecting it to be exactly the same as the series but some things are best left unchanged.

Im starting to wonder if Micheal Bay just used citroen C4's in the movie

Spec....

Edit @ Jedi2016 - Lets hope that Spielberg, being an executive producer, can do for Bay what Bruckheimer did!

Unfortunately, I haven't seen anything that says Spielberg is doing anything other than signing the checks. I don't think he's actually involved in the creative process in any way. :(

Jerry Bruckheimer...... now there is another name that makes my eyes roll. Michael Bay and Bruckheimer together forms the most overrated Producer/Director team today. Handful of the Bruckheimer's movies were pretty good. Top Gun, Gone In 60 Seconds, The Rock, Remember the Titans, etc. Most of his films are retread of same thing, over and over, using over-dramatically orchestrated music to build tension. Plot very seldom make any sense either, and acting is usually poor.

Not all of his work is bad, and I guess he does do a nice job here and there on the small screen as well. Lot of people spend money to see his movies, but I compare that to a lot of people spending money at McDonalds. McDonalds food is pretty much _______. I'll let you fill in the blank. :D

Well there's one thing I'm liking about the movie, the new camaro will be a character in the movie! Originally a 1970's camaro who gets destroyed during the movie and gets rebuilt into the new upcoming camaro!

The Rock is one of my favourite films, which is proably why i think Michael Bay is ok. I still have high hopes for this film. I know he isn't the best but he does know how to make a film look good at least.

Yeah, but at the expense of this character:

I do like "The Rock" a lot. I have the Criterion Collection DVD of it. And don't take my rantings to heart, because bottomline; we are just talking about movies. Any time we are talking about "good movies", it has a lot do with personal taste. :)

Hey it's all cool man, i appreciate that people all have different tastes. The Rock is great though, i need pick that up on DVD so i can watch it again.

This movie will be awesome. Even if it is by Michael Bay.

I've also heard the Mars/rover bit won't make it into the actual movie. Don't know if that's true, though.

That one is a "must have". I like Nicholas Cage, but Sean Connery in that movie was just amazing. 👍[/off-topic]

This trailer sucked.
i think that might be the worst trailer i've ever seen... at least its the worst i can think of at the moment...

they should just remake the old transformers movie but with updated animation and maybe 3d graphics :D

I second that! 👍

*runs to watch the movie again*

I will accept that a couple of Michael Bay films were okay, but when it comes to anything important or anything that I have high hopes for he fails, miserably.

For example: Pearl Harbor. What was that, 90% love triangle BS that had nothing to do with Pearl Harbor and actually distracted away from the importance of the events? Was the main story about Pearl Harbor? No, it was about a love triangle that didn't actually exist. He missed the point.

Now, to me, Transformers is a highly important part of my childhood, along with GI Joe, Thundercats, and He-Man. For side fun I would also watch Go-Bots.

Transformers was the best of all my childhood cartoon memories. You can ruin and butcher every other show I watched over the years (which Hollywood is systematically doing) but if you can't get Transformers right then leave it alone. Steven Spielberg says that he guarantees it will be great (so I get my money back right?) and Michael Bay swears up and down (even to the point of profanity) that he is a fan and all the haters will be quieted. I can't see it happening. Transformers has great meaning behind it for me.

My first hint that there were problems was when the production team refused to even audition the original voice talent despite widespread Internet calls for it. Then I see snippets of supposedly leaked scripts and I find myself practically hyperventilating from anger.

Now, in Michael Bay's defense he talks enough about first gen Transformers that it seems he has to have watched it loyally at some point. He also claims that the leaked scripts online are from very old rejected drafts and the only full and finished copy is on his laptop, a trick he says he learned from Spielberg.

All this taken into account I am getting excited about this movie, but I fear it will disappoint. My only option at this point is to wait and see.

On a side note: My brother-in-law keeps asking to borrow my DVD of Transformers: The Movie, but I keep "forgetting" to loan it out because I want to watch it a couple more times first.

Seen that before from Industrial Light and Magic and I reckon if they bid to get on the project, they woulda made it..

there's also some transforming footage of a Kenworth truck, silver and blue, that is either fan made or a early prototype of Optimus Prime. If the footage with the car and truck are what the film is gonna be like i think its gonna kick ass.

I just hope Blur is in, those who remember Transformers the Movie will remember him as the one who speaks and moves really quickly. lol

Being over here in Dublin, I saw that commercial and enjoyed it quite a bit. For me though, citroens don't really come off as being a sporty car so im not quite sure if the advert fits.

I had heard that the Pirates of the Carribean movie would have a longer trailer but I was dissapointed. Maybe its because I saw it overseas but who knows.

Only if they get John Moschitta back to do the voice work, otherwise it just won't work.

Thanks Omnis, but I was just trolling the threads and found this one on the Transformers movie (pertinent for me, do you not agree?), and was going to write what I thought about the movie but then I read about myself and couldn't help it!

For crying out loud, so many members have bumped so many useless threads, give ol' Prime a break on this one! I've been away for so long and look how you welcome me back! Omnis...tsk tsk...
