If they are gonna be transparent can they stay transparent until they are facing in the right direction. Ive been playing on The High Speed Ring and nearly every race someone spins after turn 1. Im always in 2 minds if to avoid or not. Frequently as i decide not to avoid the transparent spinning car goes solid a split second before I pass though it. Either make the spinning cars Transparent or not. If not we have to avoid all spinning cars. Its the cars that are blinking from solid to transparent like a christmas tree light that cause the most annoying indecision.

Simple answer really, avoid them all. Just pretend they are solid and dont go through them.

Exactly, the function is made for quick suprise movements, not for planning.

I must say the deedster has a point there. I mean why do the cars go transparent? Because the driver made a mistake and gets punished for it by cutting of the accelerator for a few seconds. You probably have nothing to do with that and just want to race, so you can drive through the car while it is being penalised.

But if so, why not keep the car transparent until it faces the right direction and goes a specific speed again? I've lost whole races because I had to avoid an AI car that spun. I managed to avoid it, but I got penalised for cutting the track, then penalised for hitting the barrier and had to maneuvre my car out of the gravel trap, meaning the end of the race for me because somebody else made a mistake.

In the end, this is another problem with the buggy penalty system.

That's the safest option, and the most realistic.

However, I've driven through 2,3 and sometimes 4 transparent cars in one place on the beginners races, when I would have lost too much time avoiding them.

It's a matter of judgement, but maybe 1 time in 4 when I decide to drive through, there will be a collision.

Which is, in fact, about as close to real racing as you can get.

I agree, however, that the penalty system should be sacked. People who care about driving cleanly won't need it anyway, and it just pisses us off when it interferes needlessly.

And who cares at all about people who don't drive cleanly?

I'm hoping when it comes out i'll be playing with a full grid of GTP members that are there to race and not to play bumper cars.

Basically the entire penalty system is a joke and is poorly executed in this game.

A car that's penalised and become transparent with limited speed should then have to drive at it's maximum (limited) speed off the racing line before being solid and allowed to drive at speed. Either that or do away with it alltogether.
