This is officially the most ridiculous movie I saw this summer. The stunts go beyond far-fetched to the point where even The Matrix wouldn't allow the rules to be bent that far. I fully expected it to be a mindless action film, though. I just went for the cars. The bulletproof Audi A8 is beautiful, and stays that way for the duration of the movie. It survives:

-an attempted carjacking
-several police chases
-several gun battles
-a jump from the top floor of a parking garage into an adjacent building, through some (obvsiously non-structural) poles.
-a 360-degree barrel roll during which a bomb placed on the underside of the car is ripped off by the hook of a crane (I started laughing out load in the the theater.)

And at the end, it isn't even dirty.

Also, a Lamborghini Murciélago Roadster makes an appearance chasing down a Leer jet, probably the most believable stunt in the movie.

The movie gets a 3/10 from me. The cars, 8/10. I like the BMW from the original better, but the Audi is still amazing. On that note, I'm going to buy an A8 in GT4 right now. :)

It wasn't that bad, a mindless action flick. I enjoyed it and yes the cars were awesome in it.

What do you expect? It's a sequel to a movie that wasn't popular for its substance.

I have hard time beliving there are two threads on movie of this caliber.

Does this statement mean it was awful? Judging just by the commercials (I won't even watch the trailer), and seeing him jump straight up to avoid 2 cars coming head-to-head at him, I will most likely never see the movie. A little too over the top I think. And I won't even mention the building to building jump. :sly:

No. I haven't even seen the second one yet. Even without seeing it first, you know exactly what you are getting with this movie. While I like these types of action movies, I just didn't think it was that special. I probably buy a used copy of it on DVD though, when it does become available.

I am going to see it in an hour. I got a free ticket with my DVD I bought so it won't be any kind of waste for me. Of course, I am going in fully expecting to let go of all worries and streses from real life and enter into the world of the absurdly fun.

I'll let you all know what I think in the morning.

UPDATE: On my "The Transporter: Special Delivery Edition" DVD it said that all the stunts were real and no computer effects were used. MY ASS!!!

Now that I have that out of my system. It was a fun movie to watch and the car scenes were great. The fight scenes were well choreographed, but looked like someone was trying to out Jackie Chan Jackie Chan.

And that is all the positive I can say. It was a weak plot and story and the stunts were ridiculous. Fortunately for me I went in expecting that and got what I expected. I wouldn't have gone had I actually had to pay. I will probably get it on DVD because it is fun to watch if you don't try to take it too seriously.

My biggest issue is that the first movie had a trailer where he deflects a rocket with a silver platter. When people saw it and practically laughed themselves silly it was removed from the movie. I think they forgot that lesson or had all ridiculous stunts as pivotal parts of the movie so that they couldn't be removed. Whatever the case is they didn't learn the lesson from the first movie.

If you are curious to see it I recommend waiting for DVD. It is worth a watch but not the greatest there is. I am curious if it will become a franchise though because I like the character and they set it up that way at the end.

I saw it yesterday and tyhough it was bollocks. I lost interest when hegot the bomb off his car by going up the ramp, doing a corkscrew and half way round clipping the bomb with the hook. Okay, one or two ocer the top stunts can go amiss inan action flick if the movies good. This one, I though the plot wasn't realistic but entertaining but it also had one or two over thetop stunts........ Every five minuets.

im still guna rent it, i though the first was a good OTT action film with bad plot, bad acting and lots of action, and from what you guys have said it sounds like they have done it again but worse this time round, sequals hardly ever better the first film, and as said if you go to watch this film expecting an oscar wining movie then you deserve to be shot.

I liked it. The only rampant stupidity that really bothered me was:
-car park to building jump
-corkscrew bomb removal
-plane crash
It's also hard to belive that it's possible to enter a Lear jet through the front landing gear, but it could be possible.
I too liked the 740 better then the A8, but both it and the Murcielago looked and sounded amazing. And the fight with the firehose was brilliant.

-car park to building jump
That reminds me of the scene from the first movie, where he jumps his 7-Series, I think from a bridge to a car carrier trailer? I can think of two complaints about the first one, and one's definitely the outrageous action sequences.

Even though it would have been repetitive I would have preferred the car blew up, again. Maybe then he could have gone out and bought anouther BMW 735 with 06 in the license plate. :sly:

Heres my review of this masterpiece :) (i cant beleive how long its taken us to get it in England, so blatantly un-fair).

Just what the world needs another no-brainer PG-13 action film. Well actually this one was pretty good.

I wasnt the worlds biggest fan of the first movie, which is suprising considering all the action films i like. Its big downfall was the action, it just wasnt very good & clearly done with wires (i dont like that). This sequal however is much better, just as ludicrisly stupid, but the action has that extra punch (so to speak).

Jason Statham returns as Frank & is just as good at looking hard & grouchy as he is at doing everything else, for one his own stunts & you can tell, which is good. Including a jet ski chase, a car chase & a number of "hand-to-hand" fights. I have inverted hand-to-hand because the fights usually involves some kind of weapon, i say weapon, well basically every fight is ripped off from Jackie Chan films, but they are done well & it seems like there is minimal wire work (which is nice).

The bad guy is very much a by the numbers bad guy & may as well not exsist. There is however an extremely hot chick bad girl, who walks around with 2 full auto glocks (pistols) & in all she wears is her lingerie, mmmmmm.

The bad things, well, obviously the plot is nonsense, the cgi is terrible & the hole film is one big advert for audi, even at the end when he speeds off with a Lamborghini (who owns Lamborghini? AUDI), i am suprised more people didnt moan about this. But as long as you have your brain on stand-by & you like martial arts, cars & "kool" gun fights you should like this (another one for the guys then).

7/10

:indiff: bottomline I loved the first and I still wanna see the second. It can't be that bad with Jason Statham in it. That guy kicks ass!

I thought the second movie was crap, liked the first but the second was just so over the top, so exagerrated in the stunts department it just wasn't fun.

I really do seem on my own here, how come so many people liked the stunts in the first film, but then didnt in the 2nd film?? The stunts are stupidly over the top yes, but that is the point.
I thought the fights were really bad in the 1st film, they had no impact, they were, well, limp is the only word i can think of.
How are the "stunts" in 2 any more ludicrus than in the 1st film?? they are just as daft as eachother.

Jason Statham does indeed rule!! Not seen him in a bad film yet (imo).

I don't like the wires either. I didn't see the second Transporter in the theater, so I will catch it on DVD. I wonder when it's coming out in the U.S. .........

I trually hate wire work. Its ok in minor uses like in this or with someone like Jet Li. Was the main reason i didnt like Crouching Tiger hidden whatever, it just looks soo stupid. At least flying dagers was tolerable like that.
Still i liked transporter 2 either way.

First one was one of those, "horrible movie, but fun to watch(just barely)". Second one is just horrible. One and only bright spot was the lovely actress who played Jason Statham's love interest. The movie gets a "-D" from me. People who make movies like the "Transporter 2" and "Stealth" should be held accountable. 👎

It's most certainly not possible to enter a learjet (or any passenger plane, for that matter) through the front landing gear wells.
Most of the stunts looked extremely fake (Wow, look at that! An everything-proof car!), the plane crash was horrid (The wings weren't even ripped off.. pppsshhh), and, even though some of the hand-to-hand combat was neat looking, the gunfights were all bad (Apparently some cheap, thin door and wall will stop bullits, referring to the doctor's office).

Cheese from start to finish, but entertaining none the less.
I knew going into it, it was going to be unbelievable, as i've seen the first one, so nothing really surprised me.
I give it a 6/10.
