Gee I'm gonna miss this place when I go on my travels next week to visit relatives, they ain't got a PC :computer: and I ain't got a Laptop... Doh :banghead:

Anyway I'm taking the PS2 and of course :gt:. And was wondering if anyone else has travelled with their console and games? And did you have any bad experiences?

For example was your console or game or heaven forbid your memory card ever:

Stolen
Broken
Soaked
Driven over :gcar:
Blown Up :fire:

Or anything even worse?

See I'm not gonna survive without :gt: but at the same time I find it a big risk to put the memory card with all my hard earned cars at risk by travelling with it.... Don't you always think What If? :007:

What if I lost my memory card with all those cars and stats? :fdevil2: Would life be the same? Was yours if it happened to you?

Invest $20 (or local equivalent) and buy a second memory card. Save your game to both of them, and leave one at home as insurance.

Besides, with 2 cards, you can sell yourself fully modded cars at original retail price!

Oh cheers Neon I'll do that......:D It had entered my mind but $20/£40 sorta put me off but then I guess it's a small price to pay to insure :gt: saves :2cents:.....

Think about how many hours you've spent playing GT3 to get there. Divide £40 by that number.
:smilewink
You wouldn't be paying yourself very well, would you?
Enjoy your holiday!

Luckily my moms new SUV (02 TralBlazer LTZ) has a cool lil TV the flops down from the ceiling. DVD player came with it too. And i can connect my ps2 to it and play games on long trips.

Yep, I often get to take GT3 and the PS2 along when I go visiting. The box is wearing off so I think Ill have to get a carrying case...problem is I have no idea how they look like...

Thanx Neon :D

And Tercel_driver you can get proper PS2 carry cases in Games shops or online.....:computer:

In the :uk: there's a magazine called Max Power and this dude had his Fully Tuned :honda: Civic estate done up with 2 TV's a PS2 and Surround sound in the back...with MASSIVE Amps too... You could literally sit in the estate bit and play :gt:3..... Nice

I wish I had a pic of it....

I always bring a laptop on vacation, and I really like to annoy people in the airplane with my Half Life sounds. :D

i am taking the PS2 with me this summer holiday down to wales, i wonder whether they will allow it to be taken on board the plane, do any of u guys know if u can actually take the playstation onto the plane on the with u coz i don't want me precious playstation getting mangled in the cargo hold.

while travelling from my neighbor's house to my own, i put my memory card into my pocket and later forgot about it. it (the memory card) then went with my pants through the washer and dryer and came out unscaved with no loss of information.

Wow, guess then that u were lucky that the memory on your card was not lost, i have quite alot of memory on my card, max payne, Gran turismo 3 and if i lost all my memory i'd go nuts!
But is it okay to take a ps2 on a plane with u can sum one plz tell me!

Yes you can take your PS2 on the plane as Hand Luggage. But you'll probably have all your stuff checked over at check-in.

As the PS2 is metal you'll need to show it to airport staff and they may wish to put it through that machine to check there isn't a gun in it or anything... :007:

Also don't put your memory card :floppy: in your hand luggage cause if that gets scanned the data will be erased :sonar:. And like the guys said above  get a back up memory card to leave at home. :home:

This is just my advice but to be sure just phone the airport and ask them about it :D

Finally, enjoy your travels and keep that PS2 safe :smilewink

Do you have a carry case to take your PS2 away?

well no but i could get one see i might not be able to get one coz i am going soon, anyhow can i put my Ps2 memory card like in the air planes cargo i cannot really get a memory card so soon.

Heck, I just bought a cheap laptop case from Radio Shack to carry my PS2 in. About 25 bucks for a decent "leatherette" one, and it'll probably last longer than any crummy canvas job that they sell for consoles.

As for the memory card... why not just tuck it into your pocket? I doubt it'd set off the metal detector, although you could probably just set it in the change tray on the other side and they wouldn't care. Airport security is pretty much still incompetent from what my brother's been telling me.

I took it on vacation last year!!!!!!I plugged it up to the hotel TV and took it out Before Breakfast!!!!Did not wanna get it stolen by the maid right!

Better safe than sorry :D Just buy a new memory card asap or put the game save onto a friends card to keep should the worst happen......

I'm betting the card :floppy: might be able to get through the metal detector after all it is mostly plastic....

But best but it in your cargo luggage wrapped up in your socks to cushion it

iv'e traveled alot with my PS2 and GT3. If my family ever goes on a long trip, we hook up a small TV and the PS2 in our Lincoln Navigator so my brothers and I can play. I always bring GT3 and usually play for an hour. My brothers don't like the game that much.

I brought my Ps2 on our two week vacation this year, my friend was supposed to bring all his games, but he didn't so we ended up playing GT3(The only game I brought) the entire two weeks. It kinda re sparked my interest in the game...I got from 50-78% over vacation :)

I remember 2 or 3 summers ago I had my Playstation in repairs, So I would go to my friend's house and play Final Fantasy 7 on his PS almsot every day. Needless to say I also left the memory card in my Pants pocket...but I wasn't so lucky, It completly melted in the dryer and I lost all my Data for Final Fantasy, along with Gran Turismo and all my other games  I was mondo pissed at myself after that one

The only problem I typically run into is that whatever TV I hook up to looks like ass. I don't think anyone ever tweaked a hotel TV, they just screw them down and plug them in. Most of the time they're too red and too dark, or light or something... I always take a copy of Resident Evil with me so I can readjust the color and brightness using the Options menu... otherwise you may be driving in total darkness through those Trial Mountain and Deep Forest tunnels.
