Trend Micro Housecall

I wanted to ask y'all here about the Trend Micro Housecall virus scanner...apparently it doesn't work with my PC. When I go to the site and get the scan started I leave it for a while. But after 5-10 minutes into scanning the whole broswer quits. This is always happening and I can only think something is blocking the process...could it be a virus or spyware? I've tried using both Java-based and plug-in based scanner but the results are the same.

Besides, how effective are they? Does anyone actually use them?

I use Internet Explorer 7, phishing filter enabled, medium-high security zone.

i get the same thing try with IE useing there kernal
& with firefox wit JAVA

i think it is an error on their end

Think it might be an IE7 thing. I've used it on a regular basis in the past. Have only recently upgraded to IE7 and just tried it out and got the same thing.

Besides, how effective are they? Does anyone actually use them?

I use it as a back up, if I suspect something is up and my virus scanner hasn't detected anything. I have had viruses that disbale your virus protection so an online scanner makes a good back up. Mind you Jack got a virus on his PC once that also disabled Housecall and Nortons online scanner.

I've tried it with IE7 and lolifox, and I'm about to try with Firefox 2.0. So far, it hasn't worked.

I use BitDefender 8 when HouseCall doesn't work ...

Remove IE7. It will automatically go back to IE6. Trust me, ALL your problems will go away. Give IE7 another year, or so.
