We probablly all have herd the name by now. Trevor Bayne just made history. In this years Daytona 500, 10 years after Dale Earnhardts death, Trevor Bayne became the youngest winner in race history (20 years, 1 day), the second youngest winner in NASCAR Cup Series history, the 2nd to win in their second start (the other was Jamie McMurray in 2003), and first driver to win the Daytona 500 in their first try. But that's not all the history he set. He won in the Wood Brothers number 21 Ford, one of the most famous cars of all time, sporting the sane colors David Pearson had on the car when he crawled past Petty to win the Daytona 500 after a turn 4 crash on the last lap many many years ago, this to commemerate PeArson's induction into the Hall of Fame. The Wood Brothers have been around 61 years and although known as one of the sports most dominate teams who have been know as a team to bring up some of the all time best in racing and as probably the nicest group of people you'll ever meet, the team was forced to a limited schedule in resent years due to lack of funding. Not only did the win bring them back to prominence, but it also marked Ford's 600th win NASCAR, delivered by there most loyal and historic team.

Now don't you all think that such a historic car should be put in Gran Turismo 5? I know NASCAR gave the cars a new nose, but they should atleast give us the paint job on one of the 2010 NASCAR's. What do you think about giving us Trevor Bayne's #21 Wood Brothers Ford or any other points pretaining to the topic. If you want the car in the game take the 15 seconds to reply that you do because the more that respond the more pd listens!

UPDATE: I made a room for this idea in the feedback section. Just follow the link to vote if you like or say if you didn't: http://feedback.gtplanet.net/forums...ns/1512303-trevor-bayne-21-wood-brothers-ford

On another note, I scored big with Bayne in my Fantasy 5 picks. My other four picks got knocked out but I was saying all Speedweeks how I saw something in Bayne I had never seen in a rookie that came down to Daytona and said all good he was all week. Picked him as the underdog winner and scored big, so he saved my fantasy team and now I get to brag on that forever 

In my opinion, no. I don't care about NASCARs.

I think PD should remove ALL the NASCARs out of GT or give us some more NASCAR courses to run them on.

Why would they leave out Infineon when it's not only an awesome road course but also a NASCAR track & was in GT4?

+1 👍

@amac500:sry, i drove the nascar series + the nordschleife seasonal event, but didn´t touch a nascar again since then. if you want all cars + paints, and all tracks etc. you should go for nascar 2011: the game...

There are far too many of those horrid Nascar things in the dealership as it is. So no.

nascar does suck. they really shouldve used all that wasted programming space on more tracks, cars...even more GT-Rs wouldve been a much better idea

They do need more NASCAR tracks and real tracks across the board and I believe Infinion was in GT4, think there was the Twin Ring Motegi ovel which Nascar ran an exibition race at in the late 90's too

I like the cars actually, a very different beast from all the normal race cars, although I don't watch the sport itself and would careless about more liveries.

I'm (not really) amazed how fast this topic turned into "NASCAR sucks and PD should be ashamed for including them in the game."

Too everybody hating on Nascar:

I am a fan of all forms of racing equally and NASCAR I'd just as much of a racing league that takes skills as any other league in the world. Don't disrespect it because of your personal prefrences.

Lol, yeah me too

DEF! BAYNE was insane! I love that he was driving Pearson's old paint scheme.

Blah, blah, history of NASCAR, blah.

1) It actually makes little sense to have just a dozen Cup drivers represented since it's really just a matter of slapping some different liveries on car models that already exist. It would be a very simple, fast way for them to further pad their car list numbers by adding a few dozen more with something as simple as some different texture maps.

2) I don't feel the need for them to whip up some new content every time a driver somewhere does something. F1 is the world's leading motorsport with eight times the fanbase of NASCAR and any given F1 race enjoys a larger viewership than even the Daytona 500 and Indy 500 combined, so should PD do something to commemorate everything that develops in F1? Heck, we haven't even got anything for Ayrton Senna yet, but let's rush out and slap something together for the latest Daytona 500 winner!

3) This actually isn't the best place for suggesting/requesting something like this. Odds are that nobody from PD will ever visit this thread, no matter how many replies you get. We actually do have a better place for something like this around here, however:

However, NASCAR-related stuff doesn't seem to do very well there. That's not surprising, though, since 1) NASCAR is enjoyed almost exclusively in just one country out of more than 200 in the world while GT isn't an exclusively-American franchise, and 2) for whatever reason the vast majority of NASCAR's fanbase doesn't seem to be into video games, including even NASCAR games, but rather most racing gamers seem to prefer road racing in one form or another.

Lol, you just made me realize that I typed "person" instead of "Pearson" a bunch of times. Let me fix that, ha ha.

no ones disrespecting it, its just not as much fun as real racing and other cars, pretty boring to watch aswell.

F1 also covers about 8 times the land mass as NASCAR which should be taken into account when reading those statistics. I didn't see the feedback forum, is there any way I can move it there?

See, right there, that's personal preference again. Others could make the debate that road course racing, or "real racing", as you said, is just a bunch of cars going around turns in a line as too were Nascar is side by side racing with bumping and banging.

What's wrong with personal preference?

Infineon was in GT4 like I said & it was one of my fav tracks. I am actually pissed that course got the axe because it could have been configured in many different ways & there is also a dragstrip too. I don't give a damn about the dragstrip part but that could have been used also in GT5 for all the people who want to drag race.

The NASCAR exhibition race @ Twin Ring was the first time Earnhardt Jr & Sr raced against each other. That race was cool because they both had Coca-Cola liveries on their cars.

Forget it trying to argue that point. I have watched NASCAR since '82 & as much as I like it but making left & right turns on a road course is more exciting. Before you even ask I have been to many a NASCAR races & attended many other forms of racing live.

Could you fix all the other grammatical errors too?

I find this extremely hard to swallow. Got any proof of this or are you guessing?

Well, we started off with a barely GT-relevant post, supplanted almost immediately by a post in the right place (feedback). It took even less time than I thought to descend into complete irrelevance and NASCAR vs. the world.

Dreadful.
