Kia ora guys, I'm having a bit of an issue that google just can't seem to help with.
I'm currently running a 3x2 set up which is just starting to feel a bit sluggish so I wanted to get a bit more, the idea was to remove one of the 2 gig sticks and replace it with a four (Can't run an 8).
Before going out and buying a stick I wanted to test that my triple channel ram would be happy running as a dual which it was
So I reinstalled the stick I had removed and rebooted, when I re-opened CPU-Z it was still reading as Dual despite showing 6 gigs.. perplexed I shut down my PC once again and checked that I had seated it in the right port, all of them are in matching colours and are all identical sticks so there was no problem there that I could see.
I rebooted the PC once again and reopened CPU-Z to be met with this
Long story short, I've gone from triple channel down to a single and I haven't the foggiest on how to solve the issue - everything on google is related to mismatched RAM or ports but given it was previously running triple channel quite happily that obviously isn't the problem.
If I can't solve it I may just go and get a 2x4 and run that as a dual channel with the 3x2 running individually.
If anyone could help me with this I'd greatly appreciate it, I'm just not as tech savvy as I once was..
