Hi all,

I've had the Triumph sitting in my garage as a prize car for some time now and only got around to driving earlier this evening.

I wish I had done so earlier! With a boost from 70 to ~150 hp and sport softs this thing is incredible! It makes an excellent drifter and can drift at the edge of control for the whole corner but it never breaks totally loose. On the straights it goes pretty well for a car of its size too. It still gets beat by the Lotuses and TVRs in the British Lightweight (working on it!:sly:) but it's a great little toy to play around with nonetheless!

Bought the MG the other night and tuned it to ~200 hp and it's a blast to drive as well! Also, it's capable of winning the British Lightweights cup easy! It's very poised, stable, eager! I love both of them, and think they are highly underrated by the GTP community at large based on what I've read and searched.

Does anyone else who's driven either car agree or disagree?

Yes, I'm an MG fan myself and in GT5 I own an MGF '97 and two MG TF160's. They're very fun cars to drive, especially when tuned. I haven't driven my Spitfire much but from what I can tell, it's quite a good handling car. I agree that they're very underrated, I guess they're overlooked in GT5 because a lot of people go straight to the Corvette's and Audi's.

I have both :) The Spitfire and a '97 MGF. Great little cars, had them in GT4 as well.

I've got them all but haven't driven them in GT5 yet (drove them in GT4). I've got a good 300 cars in my garage that I haven't switched to once, so it will take me a while to whittle down to the MGs and Triumphs.

Yep, that's pretty much what led me to mine in the first place as well. Just browsing through my garage wondering what hadn't been used yet and came across the Triumph. Actually, I think that's how a few of my unlikely favorites in GT5 came about now that I think of it!💡

Funny thing was, I initially wasn't looking forward to the prospect of driving an MGF (got it through a 100 race ticket) since my last experience with one in GT2 usually resulted in me facing the wrong way, but I gave the MGs a go after driving the Triumph and was able to get over my phobia!:sly:

It's really too bad though that more of the lightweights from that era didn't make it in....

Used to drive an MG to work every day until I met with an accident involving black ice and a 40 tonne truck
