Trouble Joining friends lobbys !

A couple of days before update 3.66 i started getting denied access to people on my friends list while entering there room (network incompatibility error) but that seems to be resolved. However i still can't join there rooms from the community lounge , the icon indicating they have a lobby open is visible but when i click on it the lobby server box appears but is empty but it still allows me to join the lobby??? , only problem is when i get into the lobby it is empty and the background is a light grey colour ???. this problem was present pre and post 3.66 update ,at least now i can join the lobby through "open lobby" but it would be good if i could just join through community like it is suppose to work and not have to search through all the online lobbies to find my friends room. Anyone else have this problem ?

yeah it's really strange, a couple of my mates are having the same problem to.

Do many people use the community lounge to join there mates or just search through the online lobbies ?
 
Have you cleared your cache? Options, Network, Clear Cache. Also if you are wireless you may try plugging your modem directly into your PS3.
 
Yeah I've cleared the cache , I do it every week . I do use a wireless connection but I always have and it did work before the PSN went down .
