Trouble with License session: IC-1

In december where I was running through all the license just to get them, I didn't care if it was bronze, silver or gold I got, so now I'm trying to get more golds. I got the IC-1 at silver in december, and I can't really get the gold, I've tried for a half an hour now. Hehe It's a little bit embarrassing because license IC-1 is a 0-1000 meter breaking in an Aston Martin, I have get under 26.700 sec. my three best is 26.733, 26.734 and 26.735. I've tryed with manuel gear and automatic and I've tryed with with active steering set on OFF/Mild/Strong nothing helps - car coming only just over the line. Normally I find these breaking sessions very easy and get the gold within just a few tryes... I know it can be done, some of you guys already have 60 golds in the license-tests... Have onthers had the same problem?

Maybe an obvious suggestion, but try watching the example replay.

Most of my golds came right after seeing how the computer did it, and if that fails, there are hundreds of videos on Youtube showing how to do them.

I set my front brake to 7, left the rear at 5, and stepped on the brakes at the beginning of the next to last dividing line, and after a few tries got it with more than half a second to spare.

Where would you change the Brake-settings?

Yes you're right about the examble-video, have forgot that ;-)

I've just driven
26.801
26.805
26.752
26.902
Disqulified
26.755
26.716 - close

If you haven't yet, you need to assign a button setup in the main options menu to enable a drivers aide menu, that is accessible while driving.

When you bring it up, it gives several options to adjust including the brakes.

The driving demo does really help actually. Also have you tried pulling the handbrake up quickly to aim the nose back in when understeering. I found this helped loads especially on the 370z hairpins on the Indy 500 track.

I can't find that menu!??

On the Main start screen, the one where you choose GTLife, or Arcade mode, GTtv, etc...

Choose the Options menu, then scroll down to Hardware, and (assuming you're using a DS3) select controller 1 and then you must assign the buttons for it.

I have the X button set to call up the menu, and then my d-pad navigates and adjusts the menu.

I use the triggers for gas & brake, and the sticks for steering & shifting.

Is it that (RA Function) Menu?

And there it was, and I've got 27 golds before knowing that hmm

Thanks a lot Shane ;-) which levels are you i A- and B-spec?

Ok let me first say that you guys are nuts ! LOL (Said with a smile) I got this game for fun and dont really care about all golds, but have one question for you all. I am having trouble with the VW Bus races in the beginning ! They are so evenly matched, how do you win ? I have a ball doing it but cant even get in the top 5 ! Its on the Top Gear Test track. Most of you probably wont even remember it because its way back at the start of the game, but any help would be appreciated and good luck with your Golds.

Hehe nuts and nuts, we are all passionated to something in life, one of my passions is GT and has been since 1997, I'm sure that you have your passion in something too ;-)

I remember the race Jeff, I just practiced more and more and a last I had 1 . place but I used a lot of tries too :-)

And there it was,

Glad to see you got it.👍

That menu really helped me once I finally read about it here. :sly:

Currently I'm 30 A-spec and 18 B-spec.

I just reached 30 last night, and am currently having my mind blown by the Vettel Challenge.

@ Jeff Stamper -- As for the VW bus Top Gear Challenge, the RA menu will do wonders for that race as well, turn all the assists off, and set the front brakes to be higher than the rear to give it a good nose in on the turns, and then just learn what the AI does, because it will do it the same way, every time. ;)

Golded it last night after about 10 attempts.
Default settings were fine for me.
Just full power from the line. Watch the speedo, when it gets to 139.5ish mph (about 20.25 seconds in) slam on the brakes. A couple of practices to get the timing right and I got it by about 0.025.
The car twists off to the left a bit as it accelerates (torque steering?) but I didn't bother to correct that, it stays on the track ok.

For all breaking tests I used markers on the road. Just pick the lane marker line as a reference point of when to slam on the brakes, and from memory it's the beginning of the 3rd last marker?
