Trouble with Win XP Pro...

I'm having trouble upgrading to Windows XP Pro from Windows XP Home. I have a legit CD for it and I even created an ISO and used Daemon Tools to mount the image so I could get a print screen for it. It's telling me that setup can't copy abrvd2e8.sys to the system folder. Retry Skip Exit Installation

Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Ok. I had my friend post that from his house. My CD drive isn't working so we made an ISO file, backed it up to my Rio Carbon, and used Daemon tools to mount the image.

I tried installing again and now it says avx9sggr.sys is missing or whatever.

Spent $100 on this as a present from Newegg and it doesn't work? Bull ****...

On a side note, I AM getting an AMD 64 3400+ Venice processor, Rosewill cooler and PCI slot fan, along with a Asus mobo and a Freetech PCI x 16 video card. Woo.

I'm not sure about the copy file problem, but are you sure you can install Windows from a mounted image? What happens when the computer wants to restart and continue the install process?

I got the same message before when I tried to install Windows XP Pro as well. But in my case, perhaps 20 files were missing, it said. I skipped them all and of course, XP screwed up.

Btw, it was on a CD.

I burnt the image to an ISO and found our oem CDROM and it still says that file is missing.

I want to call Microsoft and ask them what's up but I don't like sitting on hold for hours.

$100 wasted... I could have bought a case, PSU, and harddrive with that....

Why not just back up any important information and format and do a proper install instead of an upgrade? I did an upgrade the same way you are and it totally killed the pc and In the end I had to do a full format and install anyway.

I might. I just don't want to go through the trouble of reinstalling all the codecs and plugins and blah blah blah. I'd rather just return it to Newegg and get some stuff.

I have a bunch of stuff comin for my computer.

AMD Athlon 64 3400+ Venice 2.2ghz
Asus Micro ATX mobo
Freetech Geforce 6200
Rosewill CPU cooler (FAN/HEATSINK) bundled with their wireless mouse/keyboard.
Some nice NB cooler

Only $200 of stuff but it should run Ubuntu like a striped ape.

I guess... if that's sarcasm, then this isn't the place for it.

If not, then find the AMD 3400+ Venice OEM Processor without the heatsink/fan and click see all combos. There's one with the processor/mobo/hard drive along with variations like 512MB DDR400 RAM, and this graphics card.

I can't wait. My case gets really hot because there's just the CPU and PSU fans... I was playing Call of Duty just a lil bit ago and my processor got really hot. How hot you ask?

Looks to me that it peaked at around 149 degrees. Never hiccuped either. When I x'ed out, it was at 149 and it was dropping fast so it might have been more.

My stuff should be here Tuesday. It's killing me because me stuff is a 30min RIDE away. 15min DRIVE.

I wonder if I could pick my stuff up tomorrow..

It must be in Fahrenheit.

Well, that translates to...roughly around 60-70 Celsius, wouldn't it? That's excessive heating.

Just wondering, how accurate is Motherboard Monitor 5? It says that my CPU is 3C, case is around 35-50C, and fan speed is, 0rpm :odd:

My fans plug into the mobo but I can't control any of my fans. Meaning, PSU and CPU.

5 minutes of gameplay got my remote temp from 85 to 140. That was with CoD on Multiplayer with a lot of people running around spraying with machine guns...

Hopefully my new computer with that stuff will run a lot cooler. I'm at my dad's friend's house and I mentioned my XP Pro problem to him. He has an ISO for every OS and he has an open Microsoft License to use too. My new computer will be running Windows Vista Ultimate/Ubuntu 6.10 dual boot. Woo!

Wow. You should back that off then... Runescape..... hahaa.

My P4 1.8ghz plays it perfect and it only goes up about 2C from idle.

Now CoD and Street Legal Racing: Redline... different stories.

Your dad's friend already has Vista Ultimate? I'll send you $100 cheque to get my hands on a Vista! :sly:

Overclocking a Celeron is like polishing a....I won't get into that.

Polishing a turd?

Yeah, he has it. He owns Alternatech and has an open license. I'm getting that and Office 2007. He hasn't even installed it yet. His main "computer tech" who is an avid gamer, is running it and seems to like it. Then again, he has a $6k+ custom built with 1kW juice, SLI, quad core. mMMmmm

Oh no wonder. I though your uncle builds system at a cheap price - wrong!

What games is the guy playing? Vista doesn't support too many games as far as I know.

Lol, noo. He is organizing a LAN party. This is my dad's friend's employee who has the $6k+ computer.

I have no clue what he's playing. I do think he has XP Pro on his gamer and his "other" PC has Ultimate on it.
