TroubleShooting: Drifting w/ RUF RGT '00

Hi,
Over the past couple of days i have been trying to find the right drifting settings to drift the RUF RGT '00. I find that it has an enomous amount of understeer and cant find a way to get it to oversteer very easily. I have to use the feint technique to accomplish a drift and I think it would look better if i accomplished drifts w/out using feint.

My settings:
Rac. Exhaust
Spo. Chip
N1 tires
Rac. Brakes
F- 3 R- 8
Rac. Suspension
Spring - 10.0 9.0
Ride - 62.0 85.0
Bound - 6 3
Rebound - 6 3
camber - 3 4
toe - 0 2
stab. - 2 1
Trip. Pate Clutch
Rac. Flywheel
Aids OFF
Full LSD

if it was me, i'd stiffen the rear 1, loosen the front 1, make the ride height even, raise rear bound and rebound, bring the camber down 1 front and back, set toe to 0, make it 2-way lsd or 20/40/10, and if it stills understeers, shift some weight to the rear. but that's just what i'd do. practice helps too. and so does eating lots of doriftos...

camber - 3 4 - WHHOOOWWWW.... lol,, Drop that rear camber to like 1 or 1.5
toe - 0 2 WHHOOOWWW again... lol,, Front toe 2, rear to -1 - give that a try
stab. - 2 1 WHOOOWWW again, lol... Set the front to around 6 and rear to around 2
Trip. Pate Clutch
Rac. Flywheel
Aids OFF
Full LSD
50 - Cool
50 - Try lower, 20 - 30
30 - Try lower 10
Full Trans.
Auto 4
Final 4.0


Those are the general setting I use on my drift cars, all my settings are based on TankSpanker's drift settings, and we all know he's a good drifter here...

So try that out and see what happens, those setting will pretty much guarentee your car will WANT to drift, the rest is up to you to practice to HELP it drift....

I actually went of of tankspankers tutorial to find my settings, but i think im having difficulty b/c it a RR car and not a FR car, hence why they are a little tweaked, but im trying out yours right now so weel see how it goes.

**EDIT** Ok so i tried all of your settings, the settings i had before did better at trying to eliminate the huge amunt of understeer. I have been doing some researching and came up with this...

these settigns have helped, but there is still a large amount of understeer. :indiff:

may sound odd but on my drifters i just soften the springs to the max, slam it, ajust(sp?) the oversteercontrol so its all the way up (20) and the understeer down to 3 and tcs to 1 or 2. then i out the camber between 4 and 5 for the front and 2-2.5 for the back. then set the gearing (if possible) to 7 or 8. call me stupid but it works :)

whats in italics is your problem
you dont want your ride height too low or that far different in front and rear.
camber shouldnt be that high in rear, keep it under 2.5 usually.
the LSD looks weird to me, the initial is definately too high. just try a 2-way lsd.
 
OK tbec, you need to remember that settings are directly linked to driving style, so use the settings as a quideline only... You must tweak them to your driving style...

I use toe 2 and -1 (BTW, I mainly drift RR and MR, so my settings are for those cars) the toe 2 on the front is what helped my with understeer...

The only other thing I can suggesat to you is your drift technique, try other techniques to compensate for the understeer...

It would help more if you could tell us what kind of corners you're experiencing the understeer on...
 
the great thing about the RGT is that if you let off the gas the back end comes around, but as soon as you hit the gas the back end hooks up...excellent for non-drifting, but also good at the same time for drifting (this is a sign of equal weight distribution). what you need to do is now add enough power to the car to make the rear tires spin instead of grip. and the lsd decelleration should be at 5 because that will keep the car sideways when you let off the gas or brake mid-drift.

my lsd settings are always:

and be smooth, because the car will change direction very fast i expect.

Absolutely correct... This guy knows what he's talking about...

I would also suggest adjusting the LSD Decel to around 5 to 15... This allows the vehicle to oversteer easier on accell off situations... This is a good trick to help cars that are difficult to initiate into a drift...

I used to drift an RGT with something like 600 Miles on it (all of them on the Nurburgring) with my DS2, N2 front, and N1 rear.

Doesn't work as well with the DFP...

Very smoky with the DS2 though.
